She has looked good... on both offense and defense. She's fast up and down the floor with the ball in their hands, too.Jordan Lee is playing the USA vs World all star game on right now on FS1
Ok. Everyone take off your shoes. We’re gonna count digits based on current roster. Based on Gaston, Faye and Gonzalez gone. Graves our favorite walk-on is counted. So we have 12 roster spots filled as of today. Adding the 3 freshmen gets us to 15. Assuming we’ll add an experienced two guard to replace Gonzalez and a big to replace Gaston, if I count all my 10 little piggies and a few fingers…..two spots have to open of the current roster. I’m not going to mention names as potential transfers, as Gaston was a big surprise. No way does Schaefer not add the two players….a 2 guard and big.
Why does everyone on this message board seem to think Vic is only looking for a "backup" post player? Our messages are out of date with Michigan 2 guard committing. Laila for Herron is a good roster trade. I’m hoping Carlton will pick up some of the minutes at the 4 spot that Gaston had. I think with a big coming in to replace Herron at the backup 5, Schaefer is done. Not sure who that big is yet.
Probably because no potential starting post players from the portal have visited Texas the entire month of April. Vic and our staff can "look" for better post players than we have, but we have yet to see the interest reciprocated. Why does everyone on this message board seem to think Vic is only looking for a "backup" post player?
I can pretty much guarantee you he's not...
As of yet and that we know of. And if Cameron Williams visited, who's to say that she will be a backup? She was the top 30 recruit coming out of high school and she started 16 (approx) of Michigan's games... Scoring in double figures 12 times IIRC. From where I sit, the only way I see a guaranteed starting spot for Jones is due to the current lack of competition.Probably because no potential starting post players from the portal have visited Texas the entire month of April. I hope Cameron Williams could be a starter; I see her as a backup. She averaged 7 points as a senior at Michigan this past season. And, in her 4 years, never received any post-season All-B1G honors. Career scoring average is 5 points a game.As of yet and that we know of. And if Cameron Williams visited, who's to say that she will be a backup? I'm right there with you on still wanting Vasconcelos... She's got 3 years remaining, great height and athleticism. Definitely one who could be developed but not probably ready right away. As far as big name post player, I want Janiah Barker simply because she has potential to be just as good as Kiki and also she has two years remaining where Kiki has only one. Barker is a beast that just hasn't been unleashed yet.If Jones could stay healthy, one additional big would suffice. Jones has NEVER been able to do that. I’m still thinking two bigs. Williams? Probably not. For some reason I can’t quit thinking about the Baylor big…..Valencious or something like that. If get 2 back-up bigs, would need one more transfer out. The Stanford big Iriafrim is the one I want. She wouldn’t be a back-up.
Great summary! I'll add... don't be surprised if Vic is looking for an athletic player with good size that can play both the 4/5 and talented enough to be a starter.Roster Conjecture. With a scholarship available, I wouldn't be surprised to see another 4 or 5 added who will accept minutes off the bench.
*** = Projected Starter
- ***C Taylor Jones (SR-6Y)
- G/F Shay Holle (SR-5Y)
- Having Shay start the season on the bench may trigger some but it makes sense. In past seasons, she has become a starter at some point, often after a significant injury. Best case scenario (no costly injuries): She's a key contributor and in the running for SEC 6th Player of the Year award.
- ***SG Leila Phelia (SR)
- ***PG Rori Harmon (SR?)
- Vic has said Texas will fight tooth and nail to get Rori a redshirt for last season but there's no predicting the outcome. The NCAA is incredibly inconsistent when it comes to redshirt and eligibility appeals.
- ***PF Aaliyah Moore (RS-JR)
- G/F Jordana Codio (JR)
- SF Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda (JR)
- G Sarah Graves (JR)
- C Kyla Oldacre (JR)
- C Abbie Boutilier (SO)
- ***W Madison Booker (SO)
- PF Justice Carlton (FR)
- With the departure of DeYona and Amina, I expect Justice to average 20-25 minutes a game as the primary backup to Aaliyah and other minutes playing at the 3 when Madison is at PG/resting and Vic wants to keep a big lineup on the floor.
- SG Jordan Lee (FR)
- I actually thought Jordan might get the starting spot at SG until Leila transferred in. Jordan's and Shay's speed and athleticism coming off the bench should be fun to watch for Longhorn fans, not so much for opponents. Jordan's an aggressive defender and a freshman - that usually equates to foul trouble.
- PG Bryanna Preston (FR)
- Vic needs to get Bryanna as many minutes at PG as he can. Getting a redshirt for Rori is far from a certainty and she's really the only guaranteed option at PG for the 2025-2026 season should Rori be out of eligibility.

Really? Two of my daughters got Masters in one additional year each. Guess it depends on lots of factorsMost master's programs are two years.
Viva Las Vegas!!
