Texas vs TTU game thread

I’m proud of Sam, but maybe he’ll get rid of that HS QB brain he still uses.
What exactly are you proud of? He's 2-4 in games he started and he's lost 4 games on just dumb **** plays that any HS QB would know not to make. I wasted 5 hours of my life watching 2 total collapses today. Maybe I'm the dumbass?

Watching Acho and Ricky go at it on LHN right now is entertaining.

Ricky: Did you not see the team lift the coach on their shoulders after winning six games!! Ooh we are going to a bowl game, woohoo.... That's what North Texas does

Well said
North Texas has won 8 games so far this year.

We tried Boo at West Va. And he looked terrible. Same with his token series tonight. The Offenses problems are deeper than QB. Beck has to go.

I think this team is better than TT, but the players and coaches really **** in their bed tonight. Everyone was tight and the execution went from uneven in the first half to bad in the 2nd half.
I don't know. They have receivers that make plays. There QB is better. They had a lot more yards. We turned the ball over 4 times in the 2nd half. What makes you think we are better? We certainly weren't tonight. They were the better team and it was pretty obvious.

Too late to play Shane now.
Should've given him more of a chance.
I'm watching Herman say he still doesn't know who the key players on our offense are.
Really?
Spring, summer, fall camps and an entire season just went by.
How long does it take to figure it out?

I’m going to say there were too many different players on both sides of the ball this year. Like they’re auditioning for next season. No matter who did well each week their job belonged to someone else the next.

TT played some pretty stupid ball. They would run for 5 yds on 1st down and then pass on 2nd and 3rd. If they had stuck to the run, think they win pretty easily.

It is true that their receivers made some great plays. Several of their circus catches were critical to their success today.

also tired of him saying " we gotta coach better". I thought Charlie was gone!!

I’ll also say that Buechele isn’t the answer either. Too immobile for this inconsistent line play. Sam is elusive but tries to make something out of nothing and disaster occurs. Unless line improves we’ll have to wait for better quarterbacks if better results are to be realized.

It was 3rd and 2 with 2 min left. Tech had 1 timeout. Run the ball twice to get 1st down and the ballgame is over.

This was a terrible performance from so many perspectives. Featuring Porter in short yardage? Running the hurry up before the idiomatic Int...

But for Ehlinger to AGAIN not understand the situation when he threw that interception is frankly not believable. This may be a football IQ or mental acquity issue but there's no way I would allow him to lose another game for me after this one. Think about it. You're Herman. You've seen this movie multiple times before. Don't you realize that the kid's judgment is a huge liability? What we saw tonight at around the 2:50 mark just cannot happen. The coach cannot allow it to happen. Call runs. Take a knee. But you cannot allow #11 to lose another game for you.

To be fully objective, Herman has been a massive disappointment. Until shown otherwise, put me in the skeptics column.

That's the thing. Why is it down to coaching better? He was brought in with the thought that he was a finished product and only needed better guitars and amps so to speak to get the great tone. But instead, we're not seeing any improvement at all. Each player should be better by now. There should be obvious improvement. Not turning average players into superstars but turning average players into smart average players and turning good players into smart good players and turning great players into smart great players. That's what coaching does; it's supposed to be a well-oiled machine to the maximum upside of that machine.

We're not seeing that.

What makes you think we would have gotten the 1st down? Highly doubtful considering we had 1st and goal from the 1 2x and couldn't score. I still would have run but mainly because I don't trust Sam. And for good reason. But Tech was probably getting the ball back. Still good chance the D could get a stop if Tech wasn't starting on our 10.

To not run the ball on the last 3rd down, when Tech had only 1 timeout...it was the only way to lose the game. Put it all on your now shaky true freshman, and voila, you lose the game. Mensa, yeah right.

Beck should carry most of the blame but I also think Warehime has to coach better as well. I know we have injuries on the line but the lack of push upfront is concerning. We're making every defensive line look like pro players.

It's plain to see that neither of our QBs are going to take us to ten or better win seasons unless we have a great o-line with Depth(i think Bama is the only team with that luxury). I thought Shane was going to do well under TH. But I understand TH a lot more and I am not impressed with him at all. But I am willing to think things could get better with excellent recruiting and a change of OC. I don't understand why we looked better against WVU than TT. Maybe it's cause W lost QB Grier.

Sam is not the man. He is not trustworthy. He does not see the field well enough to be our QB. Maybe in a couple of years when the game slows down for him.

He makes dumb mistake after dumb mistake. He is late on his throws and it costs us tds. He underthrows receivers game after game and it cost us points, or the ball game (ints.).

The kid is a good runner. He is below average as a passer. He is way below average with QB IQ. He cannot protect the ball. The coach didn't throw two ints in the final 2 minutes. Sam did.
Had Shane been put in the game midway third quarter, we are sitting at 7-5 and looking forward to a nice bowl game.

Giving this game away tonight (and that is what happened), pulling defeat from the jaws of victory is no fun to watch. Its like bad junior high football. That's not OK on the hallowed ground of DKR Memorial Stadium.

I have seen high school teams that play with better rhythm and schemes and ingenuity than we do. There's got to be another Gilbert out there somewhere. Someone with a scheme and a plan who can coach fundamentals also, like teaching receivers to come back to the ball when it's coming in a little slow.

Sam refuses to learn from his mistakes. Repeats them again and again.

Not good.

He's regressed and is as bad as Shane now.

We're in trouble.

If we'd quit holding every time Shane gets a series, maybe he'd do better. It's hard to know if he could lead this team or not. We don't really give him a chance. I do think we win this game tonight if he plays. Add to that, can we get a guy that can field a friggin punt. We got lucky our D stood up to that little mistake.

Shane has a higher QB IQ than Sam. Shane protects the ball. Shane is a better passer. Shane wins this game tonight. The defense gift wrapped great field position all night. Shane hits enough receivers to score enough, along with the run game, to win.

Sam is a good runner. He is a below average passer. Sam's turnovers lost the game. That is it. Its not rocket science.
