Texas vs TTU game thread

My cousin is and has been a coach at Westlake. Nothing Sam has done this season is out of character for him, so he says. If Westlake couldn’t fix him, and we haven’t fixed him, that’s probably a sign. Oh yeah, Beck can suck it too.
 
The other ****** thing is that we had a LOT of 2019 top tier guys taking unofficial visits this weekend. Herman needs to smooth things over with them as well. Firing Beck (or encouraging him to take a HC job at a small program) would do wonders at this point.

Well, guess we're opening up the threads for "Put in Rising or Thompson" for next season.
 
Stubbornous/ mismanagement of Quarterbacks is a big reason why Mack isn't still coaching here. Herman better pay attention. Boo can start anywhere in the country save a couple of programs. I think Sam has a picture of Herman in the sheep pin.

Except they suck. Like, empirically. They were ******* #106 in the nation. #123 in pass defense. #99 in scoring D. #101 in 3rd down conversion D. #118 in first downs allowed.

THAT is how bad we suck.
 
I find it interesting that Sam can’t hit the a- - end of a bull moose standing right in front of him and throws two balls up for grabs that get intercepted and everybody on this board is blaming receivers and coaching (play selection did suck).
Sam was bad and he has thrown the ball up for grabs in at least 4 games. Each time Tom says “it won’t happen again.” Then he does it again.
 
Sam is the one who has answered those questions. He always says the right things. I actually give credit to Herman for allowing him to answer those questions, as Mack never allowed Simms the same punishment.

That said, Sam is a really ****** pass coverage reader. That's why he rolls out when he still has time in the pocket.
 
Watching Acho and Ricky go at it on LHN right now is entertaining.

Ricky: Did you not see the team lift the coach on their shoulders after winning six games!! Ooh we are going to a bowl game, woohoo.... That's what North Texas does

I think Shane has to start in our consolation bowl. If TH starts Sam, then that's just stubbornness and unwarranted loyalty which could bode ill for the next few years of Texas football.
 
I think this team is better than TT, but the players and coaches really **** in their bed tonight. Everyone was tight and the execution went from uneven in the first half to bad in the 2nd half.
 
I guess those lost points in the 1st half cost us the game (1st and goal from the 1 on two occasions).

Watch out... I was buttraped by a multi-page thread when I criticized the team for lifting Charlie Strong in the locker room after the OK State win in 2014. We then got outscored 79-17 against TCU and Arkansas in the bowl game.

Saban doesn't give a **** if his team is happy after a win. Hell, when they won the national championship after the 2015 season, his first comment in the postgame report was "need to start getting ready for next year." I hate that we've been putting such an emphasis on feeling good about MINOR progress instead of just straight up X's and O's. I'd rather throw @Hpslugga into the booth and risk losing every game by 40 than have a millionaire OC who can't call plays for ****.
 
Watching Herman in the post game ..... If I'm a kid not begging to be a Longhorn I'm looking elsewhere. He has no clue. He had to hold back from completing a sentence where he was going to lay blame on the players (they're kids, and....)

This is hard for a life long Orangeblood to see. Really hard. I'm not as emotionally invested as I was even ten years ago (age takes care of that angle) so I'm looking at this practically. Tom Herman isn't getting us where we need to go, or where we deserve to go.
