Texas vs Tennessee

Had chances. Too many shots went in and out at the end. Questionable play calling at the end, but give it to them they hit their ft’s. Is it just me, or does Knecht look like he should be an aggy.
 
Well Terry is 1 and done but he didnt have the better team tonight. Good comeback by the team. There may be a reason terry was behind Barnes for so many years.
 
The difference was the limp wrist passing mainly by the guards. The effort and heart was there, but the execution and overall decision making was not. Props to Weaver who has really improved.

Texas is two and done this year. One and done is losing your first game in the tournament

Given the issues last year in compiling the team after last season, I’m happy with one NCAA tourney win this season. Let’s hope a smoother time between now and next November in terms of player personnel.
 
Well that was a hell of an effort. Got Tennessee to play the only type of game that we could realistically win - a gritty, grinding game that was way more effort and energy than skill. Hand it to Tennessee though. They were the better team with the better players and that was evident for most of the game, but we knew that going in. We were a play or two away from the sweet sixteen, which at most points during the season seemed unbelievable. I wish the departing players lots of luck in the future. I personally rank Disu as one of the top 30-35 Longhorns ever. I hope the returning players get to work starting tomorrow because there is room for improvement.

The only guard who played well was Weaver and it seemed like he was spending too much time on the bench.
 
Terry is not on the hot seat, it’s not even warm. This team did not come together like it looked like it would on paper. Lack of a strong point guard and a consistent third option as well as being an overall small team were deficiencies that could not be overcome. One win in the tourney and a chance to beat a higher seed that easily could have been a one seed is a fair outcome for this team. Terry is going to have his work cut out for him this offseason because the roster will once again turn over completely.

We won’t make a change after a mediocre, poorly coached season, that due to talent allowed us to make the tourney, but will continue our slow descent toward irrelevancy should we not look for someone who can actually coach.

Weaver was very good tonight. He may be the most athletic player on the team. He is fearless driving in amongst the giants. I think he was the only guard who didn’t have a turnover.

Yep, and he got rewarded for it by riding the pine. Makes no sense.

Not disagreeing with anything you said, BUT who do you go get? Market is damn near nonexistent.

I've posted before, his security is mired in one of the worst markets maybe ever.

You are 100% right on this. The round of 32 is where most Longhorns teams historically go to die. I think back to all of the great point guards we’ve had that died at the same place. Asmas could never penetrate and setup others like they could, and I just wonder - what if we had one of them this season? Where could we have gone? Anyhow, like you said there is a glaring issue with size. And that’s not correctable.
 
I gave up MANY years ago! The Basketball program is a JOKE! (I Played there). Until they start recruiting "shooters" vs "athletes".....This program will NEVER get over the hump! It's so embarrassing that the best kids in Texas go to Kentucky or North Carolina because our program SUCKS!

If it came down to it, I would go get Hoiberg from the children of the corn. Texas upside is much higher. But that is two-three years down the road. It will be interesting to see what Kentucky does with coach cal. Seems they have reached a point like Texas did with Barnes.

They had two last year who both opted for pro $. G league ignite is gone after this year, so that option won’t be there for recruits. Holland at 6’8 and AJ Johnson, a 6’6 guard both would have made a difference. Abmas and Horton may not have come with the two recruits but we will never know.
