Texas vs Maryland Game Thread

I'm on record earlier saying we should stick with Sam. I'm not saying I told you so but I just felt he needed to be treated like the starter. I like that the coaches didn't panic. Lots of time left but there is no excuse now. This should be a game we can win.
Never doubted that he has the skills to win but he is not as accurate as Shane. With the protection the line is giving him, Shane might be having a better passing day than Sam.

If we aren't going to use Sam's legs, he's not the right guy. I'm not saying run him 20 times a game, but you gotta run some zone read with him and make the DE stay home.

With the pass protection he is getting this would be a blow out with Shane pulling the trigger. Not all sams fault though this play calling has been *** backwards at times

Not going to argue accuracy. I think Sam has made some great throws to Johnson. He almost overthrew Duvernay (spelling). He won the job for a reason. I don't know if the coaches are looking at this as a situational or match-up position. I believe they want to know who their quarterback is. Just my take from the cheap seats.

Meanwhile, Maryland is gaining momentum on offense again. Dang.

Wow that QB almost made a game-losing decision. No point in trying to toss it at the ground there as it's grounding anyway - looked for a second like he was going to fumble it and likely give away 7 points.

Freaking 3rd and 20 and they convert in two plays. Easily. It's tough playing a team with nothing to lose which going for it on 4th down in your own territory tells you.

It wasn't the 4th down play that did us in... allowing yet another rollout for a 13-yard gain on 3rd down was the problem. Why this team stubbornly plays zone every ******* play eludes me. If something isn't working, change it.

That play (jet sweep?) sucked Hager outside earlier when they faked it and gave it to the back up the middle. This time Hager didn't cover the sweep and that's where the ball went. Pretty tricky play. Combine that with a zone read and they seem to have some tactical intelligence that I don't see on our side.

What am I missing?

OU will kill us. Anderson is at completely different level and little smurf will tear us a new one. So disappointing how they've gotten their TDs. Dropped int, 3rd and 19 conversion. If we lose this, you're looking at dropping 2/3 non conf once again.
