Texas vs Jackson State 12/27/2023

One of my main concerns is how we adjust defensively. Rori can eat the shirt off somebody's back and stay with them toe-to-toe without getting in foul trouble. We don't have any other guard who can do that. In fact, is there any other guard in the nation that can do that? We can ill afford for Booker or Gonzalez to get in foul trouble.

Will Vic adjust accordingly? If so, how? With Gaston trying to play her way back into game shape and Amo still overcoming the ACL injury, both of them are a step slower than normal also. We know Amina can guard most anybody, but she can't play the entire time. If there was ever a time to think about an aggressive matchup zone, this might be it.

You know it won't happen (any zone of any type).

It seems to me like that may be a bit of good news. If it were season ending he would probably go ahead and let everyone know like he has previously.

Part of it also is to not let baylor know anything, but back for baylor is probably a prayer. But being out just a few games I think would be really good news.

What is this talk about missing the tournament? Have any of you seen an ACL injury for which the player was walking around without crutches the same day/night as the injury? In 30 years of WBB, VB & MBB & quite a few ACLs, I haven't.
Yes, sometimes she was on crutches, but sometimes not. And no ice.

Well, now . . .

Madison had 16 points and 9 assists. That’s a good stat line for any point guard. I think we’ll be fine if Rori is out for any length of time with Madison at the helm. Have a little faith.

"Being fine" doesn't equate to being a serious Final Four contender. Now we're even thinner with guards who can play the point, let alone any with much collegiate experience. Any injury/illness to Booker will really cripple this team.

I’ll rephrase so any simpleton can follow along: We’re going to be good and extremely competitive with Madison at point. Is that clearer for you?

That's not true. Shaylee and Giselle are backups at point guard. I suppose in your attempt to be flippant you forgot about them.
You're the one who resorted to name-calling in your initial reply just because I disagreed with your post. Don't play the victim now.

I love Gisella. Would never forget about her. Why she only played 4 minutes on Wednesday should also be worrisome if it's health-related.

We saw Shaylee play the point the first part of the 2022 season. Moving her from the SG position, even in spot duty, will reduce her 3-point attempts which we need desperately.

But, "well be fine" . . .

"The sky is falling...the sky is falling,": The world according to Moooooo. Your love for Gisella must not run very deep since you didn't remember she's a point guard.

Shaylee can shoot the 3 from the point position. She did against Jackson State when Madison was getting a breather. In fact, I believe she had two 3's during that timeframe.

Heartbroken for her - she would have been nationally recognized, right up there with Clark, Brink, et al., as we won and won. I'm thinking about Annette Smith and Clarissa Davis, Longhorn greats who had their careers interrupted by injuries. We might have had another championship or two without those injuries, who knows. We seem to have good team chemistry, hope it remains without Rori on the floor. I'm trusting Vic and the team to buck up to be a championship team. We'll have some close games, lose a couple, but I'm optimistically hoping we'll be OK. HOOK'EM, Happy New Year to all.
