Texas v. Baylor April 22-24, 2022

Past ball. Now 2nd and 3rd. And they walk Ivan!
Bases loaded for Murph—the nation’s top batter. (Or certainly one of them)

:fire::fire::fire::fire::fire::fire::fire::fire::fire::fire::fire:

And Baylor opens up their smelly pigpen again. This time it’s Stasio. Let’s knock his 8.18 ERA North of 10.0!!!

Around the Big XII TCU is up 7-4 in the ninth and WVU leads Tech 12-4 in the ninth. If those scores hold up and Texas holds on here then the Horns will be tied in loss column with Tech and TCU at 6 and just 1 back of Okie State who will have 5 losses. Massive series with national seed implications coming next weekend in Austin. Right now TCU is in drivers seat though at 12-6 and already having played Tech, Texas, and Okie State. They have OU at home and Kansas in Lawrence left.

Nixon is losing it. Overthrowing it at the expense of location. Maybe he can dial it back some now.

Back to wild ball - 4 straight balls that weren’t even close.

Great hitting all series! 2 run Homerun! Another 2 run Homerun! And another 2 run Homerun!

Good combined job by Gordon, Harrison, and Nixon to keep them to 4 runs total for the game. Gordon is no All-American pitcher, but he consistently gets the job done.

Solid sweep to keep Texas in the Big XII race and the national seed race. Next weekend will be absolutely massive in determining if Texas can stay in Austin in its chase for Omaha. Meanwhile, as much as we laughted at aggy early in the year they are about to take 2 of 3 from Arkansas after taking 2 of 3 from Georgia last week and sitting 10-8 on a very tough SEC schedule. They also have rpi helping mid week wins over Texas, Texas State and Dallas Baptist. They are real threat to be 2 seed in an Austin, Lubbock or Fort Worth regional if not a host of their own if they keep playing the way they are.

I can’t find a score update for TCU-OSU. ESPN shows the game hasn’t started yet.

TCU wins 7-6 so horny toads are 12-6 in conference. It is probably going to take 17-7 to win conference leaving Texas pretty much no room for error over these last three series if Horns hope to win the conference.

Next weekend is gonna be great. Huge series. #3 at #10

Speaking of which—I bet we stay at #10–OR JUST MAYBE EVEN MOVE UP—come Monday. Stanford and So Miss are both suspect. So Miss struggled to beat Rice on Friday.

WV is getting exposed as a pretender to the Big 12 Title.

It may come down to us, OSU, and Tech. But…Somehow, TCU has battled their way back to contention. Good for them (I’ve long put them as our least annoying rival fanbase). Overall, the stats favor us and Tech. We’ll either put up or shut up next weekend though….

This wasn't a sweep, it was an absolute trashing of Baylor weekend. How and/or why do we play the way we do against Air Force then come out two days later and do this? Can we pretty please keep this Texas team for the rest of the year?

Re AF: here’s one theory—our weekend starters are quite good as a group. Our midweek starters have not performed well. Our bats were smokin in the second AF game.

All these series are huge now cause of the hiccup we had against Ksu, the other series' against TCU and Tech are understandable. We still have a chance but we may have to sweep Kansas. Definitely have to win every series and sweeps would be nice.

And I think you're right, we will probably stay at 10, which is fine, the main thing is that we get our bullpen and Stevens back on track before the playoffs. Those two get on track we will be hard to beat.

It's so much more fun to read these threads after a sweep. As others have said, next weekend is huge. Oh, and I don't remember ever having a Bark in the Park promotion.
