Beating Tech wasn’t the issue. Beating the refs was.
It was that way with big xxi referees on the football side.

Nah. We fouled every time they drove the basket and we couldn’t get the ball inside. That wasn’t the refs that was coaching and execution.Beating Tech wasn’t the issue. Beating the refs was.
D. All of the aboveOut played, out toughed, and certainly out COACHED.
That’s not entirely fair. Were they bad? No question. But Vic allowed them to control the game. We weren’t turning them over at a high rate so the press was ineffective tonight. Scott was too quick or too experienced for every single 4 or 5 player we put on her and that’s what lost us the game.Beating Tech wasn’t the issue. Beating the refs was.
She also played for Vic at MSST -- so I'm guessing it means a little more for her.Isn’t she the player who shot the bird at the crowd as she left the court vs. TCU?
Tech fans are trash. I guess some of their players are as well.
She and another player took time to do Horns down before shaking hands with Texas.
To the victors go the spoils.Classy Tech players with the horns down. Matches their crowd who boo’d the Texas team pregame (no surprise there).
Great point. It's one of the few issues that I have with Vic in terms of a coach. When you don't switch things up sometimes, the opponent doesn't have to think and adjust. IMO this team doesn't have the overall footspeed/athleticism on the perimeter that the others had. That’s not entirely fair. Were they bad? No question. But Vic allowed them to control the game. I am convinced that a zone would’ve won us this game tonight but Vic is too stubborn to do anything else. As proud as I have been if this team, it’s equally disappointing to see them regress tonight.
I thought every other conference team already knew this. And if they don't find a shooting stroke from the perimeter in a couple of days, it's going to be a blow out on the road against Baylor.Well, going forward Vic better have a plan, because we just saw what every other Big 12 team saw. Seems pretty simple to beat us...play zone and drive to the basket. I can't think of many times it didn't work.
Best way to shut them up is win the game.To the victors go the spoils.
That gives me some solace knowing that we’ll be playing in March and they won’t. But I would also like to see us take that next step as a program of beating overmatched teams on the road in hostile environments. As much as Vic preaches about “Texas gets everyone’s best shot” you’d like to think that we’d be better prepared for it by now.Remember how this movie always ends:
20-2021: Tech wins their "super bowl", then loses 9 out of the next 12 games
21-2022: Tech wins their "super bowl", then loses 14 out of the next 17 games
Karma is really a thing.
No let-down. We just didn't have an effective offensive answer to their zone D. And the double-digit TOs and cold 3pts doomed us.Of course I am disappointed that we lost to Texas Tech. It took place in a tough and hostile environment and hopefully the team will learn and grow from this experience. I believe that a contributing factor in tonight's loss was that we kind of had a let-down after our hard-fought win over Iowa State. We played so well against Iowa State....it had to be such an emotional high for the team and tonight had to be such a frustrating experience for the players and coaches. I don't like to lose .....but sometimes it happens. And when it happens, you just have to re-focus, pick yourself up, and get back to the task of achieving the goals you have set for yourself. When you are on a team on a mission, it is the same process and I expect our team to bounce back. It's a long season and there are no off nights in the Big 12. Every team is capable of beating any team in the league and every team is capable of losing on any given night.
I just love watching our team play and I am going to support the girls and coaching staff even during the times we struggle. We have a very good team (and high expectations) and yet I know there are going to be ups and downs and that the "downs" can be very frustrating and disappointing at times. But it's a process and it takes time.....I believe our team will get there. Enjoy the ride. We, the fans, are blessed to have such outstanding, talented young ladies and top-notch coaches representing our team, university, and community. Onward and upward next game mentality.
