Amazing to go 0 for 3rd quarter and win by 10. McCarty is amazing and Boyette brought us back early 4th quarter.

It matters to me, which is why I posted it. Nothing to gain from that game, and a lot to lose. Would rather have played SMU in Dallas for recruiting and alumni purposes. All that stuff doesn't matter, the game was scheduled and they knew that if they didn't play well it was a possibility that they could lose. There should be no excuses for this poor performance.
You want to talk about all that other stuff. Little Rock's is a solid team, but if you're an elite program you should beat them handedly by 15 or 20 points. It doesn't matter when or why they were scheduled an elite team takes care of business. It matters to me, which is why I posted it. Nothing to gain from that game, and a lot to lose. I can not believe Aston did not start Brooke McCarty!! She is the Leader, the Heart and soul of this team. The way she goes so goes the team. Higgs does not deserve the start over Brook. Higgs never passes over even when her teammates are open. I am really frustrated with Aston's decision!
Wow, what a game. I listened, but didn't get to see it. Zone defense was the obvious game changer. I'm glad Karen has gotten wise to using the zone. IMO, it is so underused. We need Atkins and Sanders back asap. Empress' offensive contribution is unpredictable, and LaShann, for all her obvious gifts, does not have any shooting consistency yet. Brooke had an amazing fourth quarter. What a great player.
Does it matter that Brooke didn't start, she was out there when she needed to be. Also, Brooke didn't play well against Miss st and they still won, so what's your point. The bottom line is that Coach Aston needs to start holding players accountable for their bad decision making and also run a better offense.
I am tired of all the negative posts about this team. This team FOUND a way to WIN, after 3 quarters of awful play. That is what great teams do. Find A Way, and remember that YOU ARE TEXAS!!!!!!!
You can continue to post whatever you want. Even when a team who is suppose to be a top 10 team turns the ball over 18 times and fails to score an entire 10 minute quarter against a mid major program. And I'll continue to critique them when those things happen, but also give them all of the credit when they play well and if or when Coach Aston runs a competent offense.I'm tired of the negativity too. Let's be glad we won. Everyone is right, we won't win against better teams if we play the way we played today, but every game is different, every team is different, every matchup is different. I wish we could just let them play the games, support them, and see what happens.
Couldn't disagree with that more. I want us to schedule as many games as possible against competitive teams on the road. UALR is a regular NCAA team and they will likely be one this year as well.Glad for the win.
But, no reason for this game to have ever been scheduled. I stated the same thing when the schedule was announced a few months ago. Even though we've had some down seasons, we are Texas. We have no business travelling to play a game against UALR in Little Rock. We have no players from there, and it's not one of our main recruiting bases (like Houston and Dallas).
Coach A is from Arkansas. She said there was a recruit she was after a couple of seasons ago (who ended up signing with UofArkansas) that she told they would play a game or two in her home state if she signed with Texas. We had already played in that arena last season against A&M; so, just no reason for this game to be played anywhere but at home.
And, it was sandwiched between Miss. State and Stanford, and when finals are approaching. Team should not be travelling right now if it can be avoided.

As far as nothing to gain? What about the experience they get of from playing a well coached quality opponent on the road? I would prefer them get used to it now, to prepare them for Waco and Stillwater and Ames.
And their performance against elite teams has shown it. If you play weak opponents in easy environments, then you only learn how to beat weak opponents in weak environments.I prefer a more competitive schedule as well. One reason I don't make more non-conference games is that, aside from Tennessee and Stanford (and now Mississippi St.) the games are not very competitive. One of my main knocks against Baylor is that outside the Griner/Sims era (both before and after) their schedules have mostly been filled with very weak opponents... definitely not what you'd expect from a perennial Top 5 ranked team. I hope that when we get to the next level, our schedule will be beefed up even more.
They're going to play Uconn next year. And their performance against elite teams has shown it. If you play weak opponents in easy environments, then you only learn how to beat weak opponents in weak environments.
I would much rather only play 2 or 3 cupcakes a year and stack the rest. Because a small loss against a top tier team on the road actually helps you more than a cupcake win. See Ohio State and how they were in the top 10 with 3 losses. I assure you that their seeding will reflect their willingness to go out and play top opponents night in and night out.
Also I would like to see us go back to scheduling the perennial top 5's. I loved when we scheduled Duke and Uconn some years back. That is why I was pleased to see us schedule SC in the coming years, and I would like to add Uconn and ND to the list as well. You never know where you are until you play the people at the top.

The same symtom was there on the IMG internet audio broadcast of the Baylor football game Saturday. There was a long delay to a second lagging audio echo. This is more than a coincidence. There is something wrong with the new radio station equipment or procedures. My guess is that there is a video feed noise into the radio broadcast after the video signal bounces off the satellite.hell of an echo there. radio broadcast is a couple of minutes ahead of the video feed.
Thats where we have to realize that scheduling is a two way street. Not sure everyone wants to welcome us onto their court with a promise of a return game. I know for a fact that top 10 programs dodge us regularly.I can't remember a single true out of state road game in the past that was comparable to playing at UALR. That's my point that many have missed. It's as if we are having trouble scheduling opponents from the power conferences; we can't seem to ever play B1G or ACC teams (not counting holiday tourneys).
Oh, well. It's done. Perhaps we'll get a return trip from them some day.
