Texas travels to Tech for Saturday game

Four Horns in double figures: Danni (18 pts), Sug (12 pgs), Jatarie (12 pts) and Destiny (11 pts).

Olamide with 9 rebs and 8 pts. Joyner with 7 rebs and Sug with 6 rebs.

Horns ended up 29-65 (44.6%) from the field; 4-8 (50%) from BTA and an awesome 16-19 84.2%) from the FT line. Only ten TOs for the game!

Tech had four players in double figures led by Carr with 23. They hit 12-28 (42.9%) from BTA, probably their best night shooting the 3, at least in conference games. Almost half their shots were from BTA as they were 26-64 (40.6%) from the field. FTs hurt them as the Lady Raiders only connected on 7-12 (58.3%). Carr (5-10) and Goodson (3-4) were the ones that were on fire from BTA as they came in shooting 25% (Carr) and 22.2% (Goodson).

Tech coach in her first season there and probably only a few players that she herself brought there -- may not even have an all-state player (Brewer maybe) -- and we barely freaking win with ALL the talent on our roster. Say all you want about "a win being a win" and "especially on the road" but WE ARE UNDERACHIEVING in terms of developing our talent into a team that should be winning against these opponents by AT LEAST 20 points.

Our coaching is absolutely deplorable. Yeah, yeah, yeah...go ahead and jump my case you already know I don't give a _____. I'm going to call it out for what it is...SUB-STANDARD, INEPT, AND DATED COACHING WITH A HORRIBLE SIDELINE PERSONA/NEGATIVE ENERGY to go with it. We are practically the mirror image of Tennessee, it's just that we're getting away with it because the Big 12 is so down this year.

That first quarter felt entirely too much like how the K-State game went. I was, as the kids call it and if I’m using it correctly, “triggered”. After being down 11 at the end of the first, Longhorns were +6, +5 and +7.

Is Shae injured? The way the fouls are being called, we may need her for a body on the floor. SMH.
Shae collapsed on the first day of Fall practice, was rushed to the hospital and was released later. WBB have been very tight lipped about what happened and when she will play next. My guess is she will not play this year.

Meh, win the game. It became exhausting for me to complain about the the coach /team after every close WIN. They’re a solid team that will get beat by Baylor and finish 2nd in the conference like they always do. We all know the limitations Coach Aston.

Good point @kurupt I just get so frustrated. I said I was going to stop ranting. I love basketball...especially women's basketball because when played at a high level it's poetry in motion...stategies, tactics, etc. It's so frustrating for the team I have been watching since I was a kid to play so sloppy especially when the talent level is so good.

Yeah, I’ve decided that I’m going to try to not get too worked up for my own health.

Yes, I remember that. But she's always in practice pictures like she's practicing, so I was just curious.

At least come up with something original. This is pretty tired after the first dozen times. :rolleyes1:

Hopefully, Audrey will be able to fly home with the rest of the team and not have to ride back by auto. That would be a long road trip.

She very well may redshirt this year along with Sedona...

As a fan I’m hoping she redshirts at this point, and also that this has given her and Sedona the genuine opportunity to absorb how the game is different in college, putting them ahead of the curve for next season. It’s sad that these two won’t play (so it seems) this year, but on the positive side, this “sorta” gifts us a recruiting class of five for next season AND we should have Lashann back. Woohoo!

Re: Sedona and Shae - not only adjusting to college ball but college life. I knew a couple of football players when I was at UT and both told me it was harder and took them longer to balance classes, tutoring sessions, practice, workouts, etc. that first year than the physical part of it even though that was incredibly tough too. They haven’t played in a year but they should be miles ahead of the typical incoming freshman.

Personally, I would prefer they get the freshmsn year learning curve out of the way now so they are ready to run next year. If they red shirt this year then technically next year they still have to go thru the first year curve. JMHO

Especially when we see our biggest rivals playing their frosh so much.

Now you and I have something we can really agree on. Drives me crazy to see freshmen hitting the ground running and we still talk abut a learning curve when they are juniors. Same thing with injuries. Tynese Martin was B12 Tourney MVP as a freshman (I think) and she red shirted last year and certainly bounced back this year.

Hard to swallow while Collier “continues to adjust to college play” and Holmes “continues to get back to 100%”

I’m not in the camp of KA is a bad coach. I think she is one of the better ones. However, I think she has not adjusted fully to the more athletic, superstar mentality of players that this current generation is throwing at us. Maybe we shouldn’t be trying to change them so much as changing our game strategy to meet them where the are?

Anyway, all of this is easy for me to say from the comfort of my season seat. I’m not the coach and wouldn’t be qualified if I applied.

I’m pretty sure Geno had a crop that rode the bench last season or maybe the one before because he said they weren’t ready to play. You never really know until you’re the one on the bench.

NOT entirely, I have heard that Shae is practicing w/ team...and that Sedona does shoot baskets...but, yes, there will be a freshman learning curve..:bevo:
