Texas-TCU Game Thread

Ya know what confuses me is I always heard that the ground cannot cause a fumble.

Apparently it can...I guess. The old adage no longer applies.

It's just that - an adage, not a rule. It's never fully applied. It's always been true that if a player holding a ball in his hands hit the football against the ground without any of his body being down, and in doing so lost control the ball, then it counted as a fumble.

It's just that this isn't usually how it happens. If a player is holding the ball against his chest like he should, it pretty much can't come out when it hits the ground without the player's body also hitting the ground and causing the play to be dead before the fumble happens.

Here's a good .gif of the famous Stoerner fumble from 1998: Friday Top 10: Tennessee vs Arkansas Moments | Rocky Top Insider - the ground causes a fumble because only the ball (and his feet) touch the ground.

Do y'all know who the color guy is?
He said something earlier about us being a good tackling team
I was like, whoever this is, he has not watched a single game of ours this season
(although today so far is better than usual)

they are saying he was not down. In other words he had not hit the ground. if the ball or hand or wrist touches the ground its the same as the bottom of his feet. it's as if the runner just dropped the ball while running.

I just watched k-St vs OU and now watching our game. The level of football is night and day. This game seems like pop warner compared to the other one. Embarrassing.

The flags remind me of watching the Texans
When I watch the Texans, the flags remind me of watching the Horns
AM I the link?

he mentioned the previous play that we have been a poor tackling team, but been the better tackling team today. I heard the second comment on our tackling and presumed he meant today, based on his previous comment about 30 seconds before

We have killed ourselves on offense with crappy play, terrible play calls, terrible passes, bonehead flags; TCU hasn't done much to stop us.....We have sucked.
