Texas-OK State Game Thread

I had this game in the loss column before the season and even up until last week. However, Texas could have and should have won today. Same could be said for he Tech game and Bama(although they are superior to us), and most of the losses last year. Texas has enough talent but not the coaching leadership to put them over the top. Opponents know they just have to hang around and we will fold at the end. The ou game was the exception, as they quit early.

After this game I have lost all faith in Sark AND Ewers. I hate say it but it but we have the potential to win the rest of our games, but we could lose the rest of our games instead. Again.

Ewers at Ohio St would have been good. But Texas culture is a pit. Seems same as Herman's culture. Play well for a while then let up or get too tight at the wrong time.

Today I am reminded this is Ewers 4th game in like 3 years. I wasn't sold on him after watching him lose to Westlake and saw Klubnik have stones of steel. Ewers is too nonchalant about everything.

I quit being upset by Dallas losses about 5-6 years ago. I still watch them and probably always will, but a loss doesn't ruin my day any longer. I'm slowly getting to that same place with the Horns. Mack's last few years, followed by Strong and Herman, and now this? I'm just tired of seeing promise early (1 pt loss to Bama and a stomping of ou) followed by crap like we saw today.

The 'hot seat' talk should start any time now. At this point, I don't know whether I care or not. But recruits surely know.

I do not understand how one team gets called for 13 penalties while the other gets none. You can't tell me that an offensive line with constant pressure from the defense never committed a hold. How many holds were called on Texas on running plays? Screw the big 12 and their one sided officials.

I saw Ford held on TD run for the pokes...

3rd down conversions will continue to be a problem for this team since Ewers never looks to run. If option 1 or option 2 is not there, he simply floats it out of bounds. We seem to be the only team in America that doesn't throw deep into coverage on 3rd and long and hope for pass interference! Instead, we simply throw it away. It is an NFL offense.

Ewers was the loss today. We had 3 TD passes that were WAY off. I hate to blame one player, but even the announcers pointed out, that he had 14 overthrown passes at one time. The coaches called great plays, Ewers just couldn't execute.

Sark needs to study George Costanza:

Seinfeld to George: “If everything you have ever done — or in the case of Sark, the 2nd half of almost every game — is wrong, the opposite has to be right.”

This is the worst game Ewers has ever played. At any level. First game on the road and 4th game. No one wants to hear this cuz we are all on tilt and sure this gets heat, but pulling Ewers wasn’t the move. Needs to develop and take his lumps. Sark needed to figure out a way to help him. Receivers were out of sync again. At least 7-8 plays where receiver trips or bad routes or receivers looking at eachother. We should have been throwing more slants and mid field balls to the tight ends or running the counter and outside in second half. Not good enough, Sark. Not good enough. This team is much improved, but it’s still the same result and game trajectory… not good enough Sark.

I do laundry during the Longhorn football games.
* The first quarter is the power start, with heavy and tough, so you think everything is going to be fine.
* The second quarter is the spin cycle, when the power play is wearing down while a tepid rinse takes over.
* The third quarter is when we relax, getting tired, and take the clothing out of the dryer.
* The fourth quarter is when we fold.

We know it will not be the last loss. They were outplayed today. No defense, and Ewers is either hurt or had a bet with Vegas. He has consistently overthrown balls in the past, but not like today. Coaches didnt lose this game. It is all on the players.Players made the mistakes and caused the penalties.
