Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ

Sad to say, but the best BBQ in Dallas (besides my back yard) is at Peggy Sue's in Snider Plaza. Even though when you are there you feel like you're at Chili's.

I am heading to the Watermelon Thump in June as I have every year for the past 5 or 6 years. I will stop at Kreutz or Schmittys on the way there. Sadly Luling City Market isn't open during Thump (that I know of).

Was listening to KLBJ this afternoon on the way home and apparently Clements had the main writer from the Texas Monthly article last week. Someone called in today and said that Snow's cannot be #1 b/c it was the top rated bbq joints in the state and that a place open 4 hours per week cannot be considered a bbq joint. I tend to agree.

Some of the best sausage I have ever had is from Green's Sausage House in Temple. I have never eaten there but more than once I have eaten their sausage that friends have bought from there and then grilled. Some of the best sausage I have ever had.

Green's Sausage House is actually east of Temple in Zabcikville. Yes, it is very good. Two words - Sausage Burger...

Clem Mikeska's is just awful! One of the if not the WORST BBQ in Bell Co.

Cyclone's also just East of Temple in Cyclone TX is pretty good as well. It is family style all you can eat, and has some pretty good atmosphere as well.
Maurice's in Killeen is great as well.

Country Tavern made it, so Texas Monthly got something right.
