Texas Big XII Tourney

We’re looking up at WVU and OSU at this point. Of course Tech and OU are no gimmes. Lots of baseball to go at this point. It’s actually a wide open tourney.

Georgetown is giving UConn a run for their money and ECU is struggling…it’s not just the B12 that’s wide open, it’s happening everywhere!

As bad as the KU loss is, KU is pretty good this year and Texas is not real good. We have been serviceable at times but getting swept by ou still stings and highlights just how fragile this team is. I dont believe we are strong enough with pitching to get to Omaha but maybe we get a lucky streak and all things line up.

Frankly, at this point it is about maybe getting a win or two in Arlington and then shutting it down to preserve pitching for whatever road regional the NCAA sends Texas to. Lets all hope for the 2 seed in Terre Haute.

Yep #7 Zona over #2 OSU. Cincy giving ECU hell too.

From my perusal of message boards, there seems to be an underappreciation of talent throughout the country. Yet an overstatement of pitching depth.

UConn wins 5-4. They’ve escaped against some poor teams. They may win their tourney, but I’m not sure that proves how strong they are.

Okie State and WVU both lose yesterday as well. It is highly possible the Big XII doesnt get a single regional seed.

If we only win 1, or 0, games in the Big 12 tourney, they'll probably send us to Fayetteville or Baton Rouge. If we win 2+ games, Tuscaloosa, Stanford, or Dallas may be in our near term future.

But, there's the time-tested fallback: If Texas gets 40 wins, Texas gets a Regional. I don't ever remember that not being the case. So 2 more wins in the conference tourney, and we get our 40 wins and a Regional.

The Big 12 is solid but no great teams and limited pitching depth.

That’s true on the pitching throughout the country. It also has to do with teams having more capable hitters.

Wake is an outlier. LSU has limited pitching depth but has a high-end starter and offense to make it tough on you. Outside of that, it’s a crapshoot.

Scholarship limitations would theoretically cause the talent to spread out. I’m not sure how NIL, private institutions and all those factors impact teams stockpiling talent. That seems to be where we are.

Big12 baseball teams are very young this season. If all these teams “hold” their young talent, they’ll be some badass teams in the near future.

Powell is the DH, installed Flores at 3rd and Daly at ss.
2 automatic outs in the 7 and 9 hole isn’t a good sign. Daly got his lone hit for the tourney yesterday. Maybe today will be different.

Nice double play. LBJ to SS to 1st!

We needed that.

Minimize damage.

1-0 them. To the bottom of the 1st.

Let's see if the bats are alive today!

Hopefully Jack can repeat, and just about everyone else can wake up out of their slumbers.

JT goes down swinging. He didn't like that strike call. Can't blame him. That pitch did look rather LOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW.

Crummy camera work. C'mon producer! We want to see the live game action.

Powell flied out, but we didn't get to see it...

We must have a hungover cameramen and producer....
