Texas at West Virginia May 6-8, 2022

Somebody remind me of a pitcher who works his changeups as well as Gordon. Batters just can’t get into a rhythm with Gordon on the mound.

The WV announcer just said about this UT baseball team:

“How do they ever lose a game?”

o_O:rolleyes:
The talent on the field and in the batter’s box is obvious. We would be #2 behind Tenn if we had an AVERAGE bullpen. We have had average bullpens before, but horrendous? SMH.

Today is a great example of why no one wants Texas in their regional as a two seed. Of course then they look at the bullpen and think maybe…….

Even worse, super regionals where Texas only needs 3 good pitchers to win 2 games.

Longhorns haven’t lost with Gordon as a starter in Big XII play except for last weeks soul crusher.
Yep. And Gordon was ROBBED by our pen in that one. Actually, Gordon didn’t get the L. Someone from the pen took the L (and rightfully so).

Gordon is smart, accurate, and has good-movement changeups at different velocities. He can be hit, but the low-and-medium sophistication batters are completely confounded by him. He’d challenge Pete Rose for his first at bat of a game against Gordon. (The second and third might be a different story…).

Any announcement about tomorrow’s starting pitcher?

Great two games today, this defense is near the top if not the top in the country, many reasons why there will be a lot of sweaty teams in our regional if they put it together in the playoffs like they should.

We’ll see if we go with Harrison as the starter. If we do, we could still have some pretty formidable pitching for any series, regional, or super regional with:

1. Hansen
2. Gordon
3. Harrison

combined ERA under 3.00

Relief:

1. Stevens
2. Olivarez
3. LBJ
4. Nixon

and Morehouse or Stevens as a starter in a game 4 in a regional or CWS.

and that’s it. Pitchers will have to go more innings.

All the President’s men tomorrow?
( Harrison, LBJ, Nixon)
Or maybe Stevens in relief…I think he only pitched abour 10 pitches, so he can go…
Or Olivares as the starter? He could be something come tourney time.

Ha! All the Presidents Men!

Now if only Kennedy would be back from his injury.

Ivan is a sure fire first rounder and maybe top ten pick. His decision to come back is going to pay off well into seven figures over what he would have earned had he gone pro last year.

Meanwhile in the misery loves company category, yesterday it was South Carolina blowing a 7-0 lead to aggy and losing 13-12 when they gave up two five run innings late and then two more in the bottom of the ninth to lose. Aggy had already won Friday night and is riding quite a streak of series wins in the SEC. That series loss in Columbia by Texas is not aging well and right now aggy looks like they will be a 10-12 seed host for a regional. Schlossnagle is way ahead of even the most optimistic schedule aggy had for him.
