Texas at Tx Tech-game two

exciting game the last few minutes. Of course, it is more so cuz Texas is leading. Horns made their FTs and a couple of baskets, had a highlight block by Imani and lead 59-49 with 3 minutes to go. Horns in the double bonus and Tech in the bonus.

dang, getting too interesting. Horns need to get a FG or get to the FT line. That charge on Brooke hurt as it took away points.

Stopped listening on Fox Southwest since the commentators did not know our players name (kept calling Texas the Lady Longhorns as well, big mistake), but listening to Fran Harris talk about our team on iHeartradio makes me angry. Does she think this helps to be so critical of the team on the radio? What's she doing representing us?

Horns have made this much harder than it should have been. A lot of sloppy play after having the game in hand with 3 mins to go, but I think we're going to pull it out.

wow! I need a smilie with sweat pouring down. Okay, that's three in a row. Way to hunker down and pull it out, Horns!

Couldn't agree more! She always seems to be more negative on our girls. I know they were weren't playing well, but even when something good happens she makes snide remarks. WASn't she a LONGHORN?

I usually feel good about wins, but that was UGLY! A win is a win I guess! Whew! Imani didn't have her best game, but she showed she is more aggressive and finishes much better than earlier in season. She should be starting in the line up!

Fran was actually the leading scorer for the Horns during its' NCAA Championship perfect season. And that's saying something considering her teammates included Clarissa Davis, Annette Smith, Andrea Lloyd, Beverly Williams and Kamie Ethridge! All 1st team All-Americans (though not all were 1st team that season). I haven't heard her broadcasts, perhaps she doesn't realize her comments sound so negative, if that's the case. Show us a little love, Fran!

I was being a smart alec! :) Sorry! Was just so frustrating! I know she's got a job to do, but have found that it happens quite often with her.

What a squeaker!! But we pulled out a NEEDED win...I think we can win out, and hopefully be a 3-seed in the Big 12 Tourney...
I disagree about Fran, she was just pointing out the things we needed to do better!! Which she was pretty much "on point" with IMHO..
Brooke is good, but is making a LOT of mistakes...when things are tight, we should have a more experienced Point Guard in, like C or Krystle...

Obviously, happy to get the win on the road in Lubbock. Considering, Tech had beaten ISU and WVU handily, I was concerned. Although we allowed Tech to stay in the game, I was not very impressed with the Raiders. They are not a good shooting team, which I guess is a great things for us. My take:

- Started out well. But, as in other games, we just can keep the momentum going for extended periods of time.
- Brady has to miss more layups than anyone. Missed on early in transition, and then one late in the game that would have resulted in a three-point play
- Imani and Brooke did a lot of good things.
- Lang was not effective at all; not sure the problem as I didn't think Tech's defense was doing anything special
- Brianna had some good and bad moments
- Krystle did some good things in relief at PG; Celina did not, and neither did Foman
- Did not see Nekia on the bench; not a good sign that she didn't even make the trip; knee must not be responding well
- Did Ariel ever return to the game after picking up her 3rd foul in the second half? Saw her cheering on the bench and standing up when we scored, but she never returned to the game. Really hope it's not injury-related.

As for Fran Harris, did not listen to the broadcast today. I recall her coming on this board a couple of times and criticizing some of us for our comments. #ironic

re missed layups, we seemed to have a lock on those during the early part of the conference. Brady wasn't the only one to miss chippies today nor did she miss the most--look to our posts for that in this game. I don't blame her missing that last one as she was almost bend in half (the wrong way) by the Tech defender.

re Nekia, given how she looked at warmups Wed and the short talk after the game with her, I would think that they did not want to her fly rather than that her knee is not responding. They did the same thing with Ariel earlier when she was recovering from her ankle injury.

Ariel got her 3rd foul two minutes into the second half. She was part of the rotation for nine minutes after that, going out at about the 9:30 mark and did not come back in. Curious indeed that she did not come back in.

Good observations Moooooo and BabHorn. I totally agree with the missed layups, if there was a stat that was kept on missed layups and shots around the rim we would probably lead the country as a team. We need to continue to work on weaknesses and get better, glad we got the win.

OK when did Tech's United Spirit Arena become United Supermarket Arena? Lol! That's pretty funny!

watching the replay. Looks like that layup by Brady at the start of the game was blocked. Need to see what happened to Ariel in the second half.

anyway, Horns now in fourth place tied with TCU and ISU.

Does anyone know why they called a foul on Brianna at the end of the game when she was almost decapitated by Spears? I didn't get it.

rattfatt, you mean when she ran into Baker and ended up on the floor? I think it was because they thought she was trying to go through the screen although it looked like Baker moved into her and should have been called for a moving screen. That was a one heck of a collision and looked like Brianna got the worse of it.

Yes, that's it, to me that should have been either a foul on Baker or a no call. Brianna got blindsided, someone should have called out the screen.

My god this team is maddening to watch but they got the win... And a win on the road is a win is a win is a win.

And I too think Baker should have been called for the moving screen. It was a pretty punk *** move and could have resulted in a serious injury. If you re-watch the game, they let her get away with three ugly fouls in the final few minutes. Thank god we pulled it out.

 Now if this little character had a face that said "scared sh*tless", I would have posted him in that final minute. Does anyone else remember the game at Tech a few years back where we were down by 4 with like 10 secs left and we came back and won it? I thought Tech was about to finally get their revenge today!!!!

My DVR screwed up, but I feel like I saw the game from everyone's comments. I had wondered why Ariel got only 18 minutes when I saw the box score, since her stats looked good. On Fran, I'm mixed. Sometimes it seems like she tells it like it is, which is good, but at other times, there is such a harsh tone in her voice, like she forgets that these kids really are trying their best.
