Sorry about the rant, but these kids just make my blood boil. Before being a parent, it probably wouldn't have affected me, but it is way different now. Inflammatory remarks do not warrant that kind of beatdown, especially 6-on-one. I cannot imagine the sleeplessness I would have over this if it were my child. And let me tell you, if my child were one of the aggressors, he would get to relive that scene with me, but the outcome would be much different for him.

Wow just watched the video all the way through. That interview with the mother is awesome. She was taking a stand on some pretty funny issues:

"First of all..my daughter is not a cheer leader and she was not goign to the beach."

Eh...so you don't argue the point they make about your daughter not calling the police...but heaven forbid someone thinks she's one of the cheerleaders in the room.

Jeez -- it's like watching sooners defend their football program. ****, sometimes people do wrong ****. Deal with it.

Kids have always been savages with one another.

Violence is central to humanity and this nation. America is a particularly violent place.


What disturbs be the most is the video taping of everything. Kids video tape all sorts of things (fights, drugs, sex, X-sport outings, etc.). Jackass is sypmtomatic of something that seems classically incongruous with healthy living. It is the stroking of the the democratic lowest common denom. I mean, kids that video themselves heavy-lidded from prescription drugs, then watch it with friends before putting it on the internet and filing away snippets of fantasy in re other people watching....that's ****** up. I seem to recall various value systems and mythologies, etc., that clearly proscribe staring at oneself in any sort of admiration, even if the admiration is crossed with some other type of self-deprecation.

The internet and cheap video tech is going to have some unfortunate consequences for our society, starting on the fringes with people like the girls in this beatdown vid, and moving slowly inward toward the center in ways both obvious and insidious.

Rotten little punks. It they beat up my kid, I wouldn't touch 'em...not once. I'd just be there....everywhere. In court, on their street, showing up in public where they happened to be. Just there, nodding my head, winking at them, waving from a dark corner......follow their pathetic butts around....expect it when you least expect it........
