I'm a little late to this party.
I was at the game in Lubbock.
Like AR&BB, I didn't see the foul happen because i was watching the ball. But i saw it replayed on the big screen.
(I don't remember which player was doing what on your team, so forgive me.)
UT was bringing the ball up the right side of the court.
Another UT player is slightly ahead of the ball and running up center court looking back over her shoulder for a possible pass. Jordan Murphree stopped in front of her and got run over. Foul called on UT. That was about the time the three went up. It was ruled that the foul was before the shot. Looked like a good call to me.
The officiating was not great. But both teams benefitted from weird calls. In my (admittedly biased Red Raider) opinion, more of the goofy calls went UT's way, if they favored anyone, in the first half while they were fairly even in the second half.
Your player who fouled out / didn't foul out.
She was called for a foul which would have been her fifth.
After 5-10 minutes of the refs discussing it with both coaches, watching the replays, discussing it amongst themselves, talking to the coaches, watching replayes, more discussions among the refs . . .
It was determined that Tech's previous shot had not hit the rim, so the shot clock, which had been reset, should not have been reset. Therefore there was a shot clock violation prior to the foul. UT ball.
Tech fans were pretty upset about the mess. But after hearing the explaination (on the internet after I got home) I was like, "eh . . . whatever. OK, I can live with that."
I do not believe the officials cost the Longhorns the game. Poor shooting did. Your ladies hustled and played a heck of a game. The ball just wouldn't go in the hole for you. I don't know if that was Tech's defense or just an off night of shooting or both. UT played at least as well as Tech. But sometimes your shots go in and sometimes they don't. That night, Tech had the better shooting.
