Switching Religions, like switching toothpastes

Why is God so hard to find?

Because He is not lost.

Ryan - are you a glutton for punishment? quit arguing about faith and belief with believers. you can't get anywhere. they can always fall back on "that's just what i believe", to which you have no response.

you cannot poke holes in their logic or their story, because everything can be explained by having an all-knowing god who "works in mysterious ways." just give it up.

Just a random thought I figured I'd throw out there....

[satire]
Why get up in the morning? If none of it matters, and when we die, we just 'die', why do we bother with doing any good thing? Why not steal, cheat, or kill? If we're living for the 'now' why not make the most of it? Why bother being moral? Community survival? To what end? Why does it matter if we ever understand how the Universe was made? When we die, we die. There's nothing. Why don't we just waste our lives away having all the fun we can? Group orgies all around! If you get a disease, who cares? We'll end your suffering for you, at least you lived your relatively short life in pure pleasure right?

Better yet, why don't we just kill everybody now? End all the pain and suffering that we all must endure in this crappy life. If there's no reward or punishment for living a certain way, or beleiving a certain thing, why not just end all human life now? It certainly would do wonders for the Earth. It can sustain itself anyway. It doesn't need us. In fact, it's better off without us right?

If there's no meaning to life, then why live? If there is meaning to life, why doesn't it include a 'god'?

Your "satire" includes the oft-used and completely off-base notion that there is nothing to live for if there is no God and that a God-less world should/would be full of killing, etc.

Sorry, not gonna bite.

If you think there's no meaning to life without your guy in the sky, that's your bag. Don't drag me down into the muck by saying if there IS a meaning, there must be a God.

Ryan - they get to use that line because it's the last line of defense. the mere fact they believe in God is already a show of extreme faith that cannot be explained away by use of logic. seriously, it's a losing effort. i've tried.

I don't need the threat of hell or the reward of heaven to make me get up and do the things I do. I find it sad that so many need that carrot.

I get up out of bed every day and do my work because I love to live. I love to see my friends and family. I love to laugh. I love to play golf, go to football games, play with my dogs. I am about to get married and I'm excited about beginning a family and being a father. I like treating others well and bringing a smile to their day.

To me, that is a FAR better reason to live than because an all-powerful god will punish me if I'm not a good boy.

Ryan - Christians do not equate man to dogs. You're barking up the wrong tree. They will simply say that God created animals on a different day and for the pleasure of Man. You cannot argue with that because it's "just what they believe".

you're asking a question which, if answered, requires the acceptance of a creator. sorry, no dice.

evolution created dogs and humans. we just happen to be much smarter (usually).
