Sweet 16 results

I'm pulling for Stanford on that side. Looks like Stewart is out for the rest of the game. A double double and five blocks. Outstanding game for her.

UConn reserves not as polished as the starters. Not sure they will score enough to get to 100. Certainly giving up more pts to Miss State.

Stewart with a double double (16 pts, 11 rebs) with 4 minutes left in the second quarter. Also has two blocks, so a possible triple double for her if MSU keeps driving inside. Miss State has had a few good plays but otherwise has been totally disrupted by the UConn D.
If we make it past UCLA, our only hope will be if Tonya Harding has it in for Brianna Stewart.

yeah, no. even making a joke about an opponent having to be assaulted to have a chance to win is not something I find funny.

Oh, lighten up......do you just hunt for the negative? Sometimes "visuals"....like a cartoon or an editorial cartoon are funny. Jesus...get a grip!.....

You seem to provide plenty of negative, so I can see how that hit a nerve.

You are correct. And you are also right, anything can happen, re: we could play Baylor again, but more likely Baylor will play UConn for a trip to the final four and that's sad. It would be better if they could play each other in the championship game as I think they are the best two teams left in the tourney.

No matter how the game ends on monday night i'll be watching the games with my hornsup and horns held high in the air after the game. #BELIEVE #ALLIN #FINISH

Went to the Dallas Regional. Baylor handled FSU. Oregon State in the second game looked great. Tall and can shoot the three. Or maybe DePaul is just really short.

The turnout was very sad. The NCAA should give tickets to local girls teams. What a pitiful showing. And most of the Baylor fans left after their game ended.

Did see some other Texas fans. Those of us who thought we might end up in the Dallas regional. Sad story, but we do have rights to buy Final Four tickets next year (in Dallas).

UConn is single handely killing the women's game.. Everyone expects them to win by 40 every game and it has really made people not care about the sport IMO.

Although Stanford is one of my favorite teams not named Texas, I 'm glad to see Washington defeat Stanford for their first ever trip to the Final Four. I think it's good to have new blood in the FF

Well, I am watching UConn play every game I can see so that I can measure what our team has to do to beat them. I enjoyed watching the Cowboys when they dominated, the Celtics when they won those 9-10 championships in a row, etc. Knowing they would probably win did not lessen the enjoyment of watching a team play so well. If it's my team getting a beat down, my thoughts are that we need to work harder to get to that level, not that we need to avoid them because we can't beat them.

Team play the way that UConn plays is a thing of beauty and if people can't appreciate, I do feel sorry for them. Like looking at a Rembrandt or reading a classic and not appreciating it.

Not that I don't understand that our chances of pulling the upset aren't slim. But there is a chance and there is the opportunity to play the best. Have to see how our team has improved and how much they need to do so. Unless we win, in which case we better be ready for the next team.

Washington is on a roll. They are in the final four with the win over Stanford. Not a surprise as they have now won 2 of 3 against Stanford this season, including the last two. I wanted Stanford to win but Washington simply played better.

UConn isn't killing the women's game. All the wbb coaches that refuse to evolve are killing the women's game. They need to look at what Geno is doing and learn how to run a competent offense. You don't have to run the same offense that he's running because not every program has that kind of personnel. But all the wbb coaches including Coach Aston need to step up and improve on the offensive end of the floor.

And you see the wide open exciting offense that they run with the floor spread. Post players aren't standing on the block clogging up the paint.

Syracuse is taking it to Tennessee, up 18 with five minutes to go. Can't say I'm sorry about that!

Wonder if Tenn fans are going to start up with the "fire Holly" chant. I thought Tenn did a very good job getting to the Elite Eight. And they played a lot better than in the middle of the season, when they earned that #7 seed.

Syracuse vs Washington is going to be a great game.

So there wasn't an "SEC" chant? .....LOL>>>LOL>>>>LOL>>>>>

Successful coaches adapt to the abilities of their players. You can't coach a 6'2" player to play 6'7" or 5'4" player to play 6'2". (Exception: Brooke doesn't know she isn't 6'2" and doesn't care). I do not believe our posts have shown the mobility and shooting consistency to play the "wide open offense" you see others using. Our Elite 8 success is because we have used our size to a rebounding advantage and intimidating defense.
Next year's players will have different size and different skills. I fully expect we will see a different offense next year.

We will absolutely see a different offense next year. You will have the Caron-Gadreau twins who are both lethal 3 point shooters, and very skilled offensively. You will also have Joyner Holmes, a 6'3" BEAST who is beyond EXPLOSIVE off the bounce, handles the ball like a guard, is CAT QUICK down the floor, can jump out of the gym, and has an outstanding mid-range jumpshot. Then you add Alecia Sutton (pending recovery) and Jada Underwood. We will be much more difficult to guard in the half-court and will be able to spread the floor (i.e. Washington, Syracus & Oregon State). Having 5 players who are consistent shooters will open up the driving lanes for Brooke, LaShann, Ariel, etc., as well as open up the mid-range game. Should be FUN!!!!!

Your're right. I do believe for the most part that Coach Aston is running a system that fits her players. Washington and Ohio State run the dribble drive motion offense. The coach for Washington was an assistant coach for Kevin Mcguff before he took the job at Ohio State. So it's not a coincidence that both coaches run the same offense with very similar players that Mcguff recruited in Kelsey Plum and Kelsey Mitchell. Hopefully the offense will be different next year because the post players are going to be a lot more mobile and versatile.

The system should really center your star players. I don't believe ours really does not do that. A fast pace motion cut style offense is what we must run next year. IMO Ariel and Brooke both should be taking 12-15 shots a game. The media talks a lot about Ariel for a reason because they see if she just gets the ball what she will do. There are not many women basketball players as smooth as her on this level.
