Super Bowl game thread

Good game. Cincinnati staff coached about as well as they could have to keep their team in the game but ultimately the star power of LA Rams was too much. Kupp and Donald won the game in the 4th.
Bungles screwed the pooch going for it on 4th down at mid-field in the first quarter...in the home stadium of the opposing kicker, who likely was going to be good from 60, meaning that the poor decision would cost Cincinnati AT LEAST the three points without LA even getting a first down.

The Cincinnati play calling in the final series would ALSO prove to be suspect. Running up the gut was NOT the smart play. I suspect we will come to learn that Burrow had seen his mobility impacted by the earlier play where his knee got jacked up. Otherwise, the wise play would have been a roll out and hit someone in the flat.

Hopefully the management gets it together in the draft and finds someone who can block...Burrow CANNOT have a lengthy career getting planted that many times.

Very astute, MB.
Looked to me like there were ways CB could have (and maybe "should have") won it.
Again, great game by both teams, nonetheless.

I didn't have a problem with going for it, but the Bengals had 4th and 1 twice and threw it both times despite have a good running game, and both times it was an incomplete pass.

Also, possibly the worst collection of Super Bowl commercials ever.

They haven't been good for like a decade.

]Glad the Rams won (not that I cared all that much either way), but they got a gift on that ticky-tacky pass interference call on the winning drive. Maybe it made the difference, maybe it didn’t.

Those were legit calls, the problem was the refs had been consistently letting them go for both teams all game long. Was weird to suddenly call it tight only in the final minute, even though in the end all it likely did was cancel out the horrible and obvious facemask Cincinnati got away with that resulted in a long TD.

The real story of the game was Rams DL/LBs dominating the line of scrimmage though; so in the end I think the best team won. Thought Von Miller should have been MVP since he most consistently brought it all game while Kupp and Donald didn't do as much until the last half of the 4th quarter, but ultimately I was ok with any of the choices and was glad the "lazily just vote for the QB as long as he was decent" didn't happen.

As others have said, the commercials have been extremely disappointing for a couple of decades. I suppose if you’re paying a $5.6 million for 30 seconds, there’s not much money left to actually come up with a clever idea and then produce it.

:idk:

But I have to say that the Salma Hayek, Arnold Schwarzenegger “Zeus” ad was pretty clever. I would give it high marks.

I actually liked that onw when I saw it on my BMW forum last week. The Chevy one was OK and the Jones Toyota one was OK, but the rest sucked. Than coinbase thing was stupid.

This is the Bengals final play. That is Chase that is behind a falling down Ramsey. Just 2 more seconds and Burrow likely puts the Bengals back in the lead.

That begs the question...Ramsey had a very very bad game. How does one of the best DBs in the game look so bad?

All I know is that I bought 2 squares...1 of which had #'s 3 & 0...meaning that I won the 2nd ($100) & 4th ($200) quarters. 300 big ones, biyatches.

Here's one more angle of that final play with Chase wide open.
Something tells me if Burrow had just "a sliver" more time there would have been plenty big plays down field for the Cats.

Re: final play, might have been unwise to send their best guy so far downfield when they only needed a short distance and knew they would likely have very little time to throw.

It basically meant Chase would be forced to take himself out of the play unless the OL pulled off an unlikely good performance.

Agreed. Of course this is a favorite of Seattle and Russell Wilson. 3rd or 4th and 1 and they go deep. You're guaranteed to have 1:1 coverage. Still, a nicked up Burrow with a sprained knee wasn't going to be able avoid Donald or a blitzer.

Certainly a time and place to try that, but not with a gimpy QB, sieve OL, and the ball at midfield in the final minute when you only need another 20-30 yards.
