Steve Earle

Steve Earle has been my favorite song writer for a while now. Copper Head Road, I Feel Alright and the Mountain are all great albums. He did a Buddy Holly cover, "Crying, Waiting, Hoping" with Marty Stewart on a Buddy Holly tribute album that is still one of my favorite Steve Earle numbers.

Hey Ackworth, Where you been? At the Cantina last week, we got there just as the Cabo Wabo salesman left. It got ugly.

OK. The CDs are going out tomorrow morning. If you asked for a copy, you will be getting one. For more info, please see here for info and a set list. If you have any questions, please PM me.

Let me know what you think of both the Steve Earle stuff and the filler material.

I hereby nominate hulla for hornfans HOF. He has sent me so much music, and I've sent him 3 crappy mp3s in return.

Thanks, hulla.

I second hulla's HOF nomination. He's sent me so many great discs--from live broadcasts to unreleased studio recordings to in-studio & call-in interviews--that it's hard to keep track of 'em. I think I've only sent him a few Springsteen concerts in return (though they're pretty top notch). Still he's probably sent 10X as much stuff my way as I have his.

One of these days I'm going to finally meet him & the drinks will be on me.

Dammit. I see hulla about every month and buy him beer. He doesn't give me ****. Plus, his GD dog bit me in December. ******.

Baboso, quit your bitchin'. I still haven't given up trying to convince the eldest daughter into going to live with Uncle Baboso as compensation for the hound incident.

I will sometimes have "Ft Worth Blues" stuck in my head for days. It's a simple song, but it's a great song. He wrote it for Townes shortly after his death. Townes was born in Ft. Worth. For those of us that were moved around a lot when we were younger and really lament those days this simple song can rip you up. Steve's always been good at that.

About 10 years ago, Earle was playing at the Stone Pony in Ashbury Park. Springsteen was watching from the side of the bar and Earle noticed him. Earle said "Damn, they will let anyone in here won't they" and proceed to play "Highway Patrolman".
