State of the Union

I35, you should have ended your post with one of your famous: "Obama is like the worst president ever, you guys!!!"

I think with another success from Seal Team 6 (it seems) that would put him a notch above Jimmy. Of course, if he is reelected he would have the opportunity to do a lot more damage to the economy, to the courts, to the justice department, to the military, etc. We will also expand the dependency class to hire levels than ever. So, he may have the opportunity to pass Jimmy once again.

The prime reason he will be elected has more to do with the candidate who will have an R by his name. The tea-rads are going to get Newt nominated, one of the most hated / distrusted pols in the country despite his current surge vs the inept competition.

As much as you guys detest Obama, there's not enough of you to counter the mod-Rs and indies who will vote for Obama to keep the office out of Mr Nasty's hands.

The quote that best sums up why he'll win again comes from George Carlin, "Just think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that." He could literally walk onto a stage, stare down an entire audience by stating that he wants to raise taxes on everyone and everything, and he would still win. The voting populus quit listening to the message long ago, and now simply practice a Pavlovian reaction at the ballot booth.

Michtex, the opposition is ALWAYS smarter. That's how the liberals sold it when Bush was up for re-election, that's the current status, that's how it will be 4 years from now. This mantra was flung at Republicans day after day in the past decade, and the shoe is on the other foot now.

The quote is more an indictment on We, The People, not the D's or R's. The genius of the quote is that it works, no matter when you apply it.

"even though the banks have already repaid these loans with substantial interest?"

Prove it! The gov't part of me is from Missouri,

I'll say that bringing back manufacturing to this country is the best thing I have heard from a president since before Reagan. I'd love to see it but the Missouri side of me doubts it.

No doubt Obama will get a lot of votes from that speech but I would guess that the elite/banks/worldly corporations are still laughing. Laughing, that is, at the Obama con job knowing their man would get another term.

NukeBear, nice comment, though I don't agree.

Time and time again, we hear the biggest strategy to Obama's chances at re-election being the sure-fire losers that the GOP trotted out this year. I say, simply put, that Obama wins on one advantage--- America will choose to vote for the devil they know versus the devil they don't, a real true lose-lose scenario for the country. Neither party will ever put their sack on the chopping block and start slashing spending if the status of politics stays quo.

Now if we double dip, I think Obama's toast. But the liklihood of that occurring is probably small, and if corporate earnings are any indication, it's not going to happen. Of course Europe could tank and point us to double dip territory, but I doubt that too.

Nuclear Bear,

I do believe it's 50% and only 4 presidents have been below it at the end of their first term..

Rog, I don't want sunshine pumped up my ***. I want to be led by a leader. He is the anti-leader. Inspiration is great, but when that is all you can do (regurgitate what nimwits would deem inspiring), and you lack substance, and your proposals are laughable, then the inspiration gets you nowhere.
