That was class all the way. It really does suck that the committee basically set out to get rid of one of us for the CWS. But was also nice to have a series against a team whose fans didn't talk a lot of ****. Hell, aggy was talking **** even after we ended their season.
All I can say is that was very cool. Dont think I have ever seen anything like this before.
I was at the Tennessee - Fla St National Championship game in Tempe in '99 and only came away with one feeling....damn that chant was annoying, not really realizing that almost everyone I spoke with was very polite and civilized.
Now in reflection after seeing this post, I really understand that you guys know how to handle yourselves whether winning or losing. Thanks for the pat on the back.
Congrats on a great season and good luck next year!!
Thanks MadCow!!! Echoing everyone else's sentiment - that is in a class of classy by itself. Real sportsmanship here!
BTW - we will be watching more of FSU softball next year. You are getting a great player out of Houston, by way of JUCO, named Kim Hoffer. Go out and watch them some time and tell her hello from all her friends in Houston.
It takes some yarbles to gut it up and do that after your team has lost. Reminds me of the UNL fans giving Ricky a standing O after the Horns broke the UNL home win streak.
I, too, will be rooting for the Noles to get to Omaha next year.
FSU and Longhorns fans that were their this weekend. This is Mike who came up from Daytona Beach. I wanted to thank eveyone for such a great time. It nice hanging out with some Texas folks for a change. The FSU fans made me feel really welcome. The Animals rock!!!!
Drew - as an old Wild Bunch alum that has also been given the privilege of sitting with the Animals, I knew it would turn out like this. That's why I asked Alan B. to talk to you about getting you and Robert together.
Austin and Tallahassee are blessed with two of the best college sports programs in the country - and when you are great, there is no need for pettiness (unlike some of our competitors, that have got some SERIOUS self-image issues). Like so many other posters have said, it is too bad this could not have been played in Rosenblatt - and here's hoping that we can see you again next year in a Nebraska parking lot for another great tailgate!
There's absolutely no question about the class and sportsmanship that FSU showed.
One awesome example is the official press release from the FSU SID. It is the fifth paragraph before FSU is significantly mentioned. Contrast this with a "we were outscored, but our band won the halftime" SID release from another school.
It is so nice to finally meet our match. I could tell from the first post on this board from a Nole fan that the penis envy that we see from so many of our other opponents would not be there from FSU. I have always liked the Noles and said if I had a cjoice to go play a D1 sport anywhere I wanted except for Texas that FSU would be in my top 5 no matter the sport.
I have been out of the loop for a few days due to work and on the way home today I heard the afternoon guys on 1300 The Zone talking about the Section B website and how it had such kind words about our fans. I got home and got straight on hornfans to check it out knowing it would already be a hot topic on here and it was better than expected. I wish I could have been there to watch two top notch coaches, who are great friends, coach two programs that are the mold for what all D1 programs want to be. All this while sharing it with fans that understand the game, know how to have fun, and realize that all of this is a lot funner (even losing) when you can just take these sports for what they are worth. Thanks!!!
Horns that made the trip to Florida, I know you already do, but consider yourselves very lucky.
ok. i will pile on here. this image will be remembered for as long as my male memory permits... much like Nebraska's reaction to their homefield loss to us... and much UNlike the miami players' behavior when they beat up on us in the cotton bowl. It will be easy for me to be a FState fan now... i am truly impressed and appreciative. Go Noles and Go Horns!
