Someone at work stole my credit cards: UPDATE

They already do if you want a cash advance at an ATM. Merchants are charged different rates for PIN-based and Signature-based transactions. I think the credit card companies make slightly more on Signature-based transactions. btw, with Discover you can get cash back at the point of sale on signature credit card transactions (with no cash advance fees).

Just for the record. how many tickets does $1300 get you? You know, just in case I want to catch JayZ/MJB the next time around.

Could of been one of your co-workers, but could of just as easily been a maintenance person, delivery person, janitor type, or any one wandering around the building off the street. It's not hard to see a cube that is occupied, but empty at that moment, and open a few draws and cabinets to see if you can find a purse. It happens all the time. I work in a very secure building b/c (the chairman is on the floor above me), but we've had a rash of laptop thefts. I think the fact that we know how hard it is to get into the building makes everyone more relaxed and hence easier targets.

As others have said, it wasn't a co-worker. Some stranger walked in to your office off the street. Probably during lunch when most people were out.

The thief probably has friends (accomplices) who work at wherever the merchandise was purchased. I think you said Randall's, The Container Store, and Dillard's. The accomplices work the registers. This way it doesn't matter if identification doesn't match. The accomplices probably ask for a driver's license during the transaction - but only because they know the video cameras are watching.

You can find the merchandise on Craigslist.

Next week the same criminal will victimize somebody again, in exactly the same fashion.

Here's a view from "your seats".

Just kidding. Sucks that you were ripped off at your workplace. I'm afraid we often have a false sense of security in our offices. We think the building is secure and trust our co-workers, but in most cases, neither are valid.

Yeah Dillard's declined the transaction. What does the thief do then? Just say nevermind and leave their $1000 worth of stuff?
I don't know if they bought the tickets at Toyota Center or at Randalls but either way, not asking for an ID is ridiculous.

Yeah there's basically one person here at work that fits the description. But obviously it could be someone not from work (that my coworker gave the card to) so I'll just have to see if the picture matches.
