Shriners Children's College Baseball Showdown

Hard line drive to 3rd. A Rod makes the grab. 3 down.

Only 1 hit and no walks off Harrison thus far.

Harrison beans the next batter. That’s it for Luke Harrison. Good outing.

Thomas Burns to the mound for the Horns. He was once the staff ace at Arizona State. Had a bicep injury. He throws fast.

Burns inherits 2 runners and one out.

A successful opening weekend was always winning two of three and Horns have a chance tomorrow to make that happen. Nice bounce back win tonight in dominating fashion.

Bottom of the 7th we run-ruled them to win the game 10-0.

Total *** whippin for our first SEC game. We're upper echelon in the SEC. Very impressed with Harrison and out batting lineup.

Luke Harrison was stellar on the mound, tossing six scoreless innings with only two hits allowed and six strikeouts. The Longhorns' offense came alive in the fourth, scoring seven runs. UT would score three more in the seventh inning to end the game, highlighted by Max Belyeu's two-run homerun.

Ole Miss starter Riley Maddox struggled and was replaced after 3.1 innings, having given up five earned runs.

Texas added more in the seventh, including a Gasparino triple and Belyeu’s homer, securing the win.

Only two Texas players went hitless,
and the Longhorns cruised through to bounce back from a season-opening loss to Louisville.

Texas Run-Rules Ole Miss

Texas 10, Ole Miss 0 (7 Innings)

Mendoza brought in the game-winning run as Texas Longhorns baseball recovers strong after the season-opening loss to Louisville last night.

Texas' Luke Harrison pitched six innings and gave up no runs and only two hits. He also had six strikeouts and only 71 thrown pitches.

Riley Maddox started well with six strikeouts, but the Longhorns obliterated the ball with a seven-run 4th inning. Maddox was relieved in the 3rd inning.

Only two Texas players didn't have a hit tonight.

Max Belyeu led the way for the Longhorns, going 2-4, with 1 HR and 3 RBI.

So it looks like Burns will be a middle reliever or a set-up man for us. Maybe close if and when needed. If his clocked velocity is any indication, he's fully recovered from his old bicep injury.

Well, well, well....I just got to the house from the game. Night and day difference. Luke Harrison is Him. That boy is back to his old self. what an outing. Can't find enough verbs, adjectives or nouns to describe his outing. Enough said.

Flores' defensive stop of a hard hit ball and put out to third was outstanding.

I expect about this much production from this group on offense every night.

Burns....holy moly. He throws gas. I saw 97 on one pitch. He mowed them down.

Outstanding outing Horns. Now, let's string together similar outings starting with OSU tomorrow night.

This is so good to see. He was the staff ace at Ariz State, although his numbers were just pretty good. Big dude from Wisconsin. Suffered a bicep injury, but if he's clocking 97+ mph he must be fully healed and improved. The online scouting reports most had his fastball in the low 90s. If he's throwing 97+ mph, he could close, set-up, long relieve, start...
