Shell buys Russian oil at a discount

I’m not big on boycotting, but I’ve not purchased any Nike products and now I’m done with Shell.
It’s not a boycott as much as a moral decision that I cannot bring myself to support immoral organizations.
I have a Shell station near my home that was my go to, I will not darken their door again.

Shell makes 'difficult' decision to purchase Russian crude oil, vows to buy elsewhere 'whenever possible' | Fox Business
It looks as if they will cut Russia out over time, and they are putting profits in the right place.

Only after they were caught.
Like men going to sex addition clinics once the wife catches them with an escort.

Please clarify- cheating men… that was just conjecture and I reckon I could use Tiger Woods as an example or an unnamed man I used to work with when a stripper he knew showed up at his house. Ding, dong.

If you are referring to Shell, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba outed Shell in a tweet.

The teeet: and then a follow up to the timeline of Shells response.
One question to @Shell: doesn’t Russian oil smell Ukrainian blood for you?" Kuleba tweeted. "I call on all conscious people around the globe to demand multinational companies to cut all business ties with Russia."

In its statement, posted a FEW HOURS AFTER Kuleba's tweet, Shell noted that Russia is a significant oil producer. Russia is the world's third-largest producer of oil after the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, producing about 10 percent of the global oil supply.

"Yesterday (this was Saturday as the world watched Putin kill innocent peace loving people for days) we made the difficult decision to purchase a cargo of Russian crude oil," the company said, saying the purchase was made with the intent of providing “
Shell pledged on Saturday to put any profits it makes from the purchase of Russian oil into a special fund to assist Ukrainians after AFTER RECEIVING INTENSE BACKLASH for buying a Russian oil shipment.”
CAPS are for illustration by me.

Until Biden is ousted, maybe the pending landslide Mid Term defeat will wake up this administration.

What was happening in Germany that led to Hitler gaining power? Economic destruction and hyperinflation.

Is the same situation being manufactured in Russia today? Watch the ruble.

The Russian people are protesting the war. What would turn them into proponents of war? Maybe destroying their life? Then they have nothing to lose and have been harmed by forces outside of their country. That is a galvanizing factor. The West needs to keep the Russian people seeing their government as the enemy not the West.

What do you want Shell to do? Should they shut down all their operations in their home country? Maybe they can get the Democrats to fund Buffet a railroad from Canada and the Dakotas to Holland. Let's see, if it costs $9 a barrel more to transport oil to Texas than to send it by the dreaded unsafe pipeline, what the hell would the cost be to use a railroad to Holland? (BTW, anybody know the number of railroad accidents versus the number of pipeline accidents over the last few decades?)

Since Shell sold their 50% interest in Deer Park Refining to Pemex, maybe they can take their feed stock to the LOOP, but Deer Park's feed stock is tight with the Democrats cutting all feed stock back. If they can get it to Kinder Morgan or Enterprise, possibility of getting it to the Loop is enhanced, but that just knocks the crap out of our domestic producers.

I doubt Shell made a decision based on a tweet.

They did because of the backlash from the tweet, Shell took a ton of backlash..look pal.. I’m passing along info here and my thoughts.

And before you ask, I’m not researching how I know there was a backlash. Nor any additional requests you have regarding facts. That’s all I have.

Thanks and feel free to support Russias war finances, I’m not. That’s all I am saying.

Sabre, I just will not knowingly support a company that helps fund the killing of innocent people.
Do I think Shell cares about my decision? No. But this is a personal moral issue with me and I realize Shell cares more about profit than people. I live in a corporate environment, so I understand.
For me, this crossed that line.

Thanks pal. I’ll take your info and process it appropriately.

Then you understand that there is a 50% chance that an underling or a standalone VP at Shell made the decision without receiving input from others.

Or alternatively, it took 32 people to approve the press release after the decision was made to complete the delivery of the tanker and one of them was skiing in the mountains and not reachable.

Exactly. That’s why facts are important to know. Maybe they should be criticized. Maybe they are correcting an employee’s mistake. Until you know the facts, it is impossible to make a rational decision about the morality of Shell.

The US sent representatives to Venezuela to talk with Maduro. Why?

Some U.S. refineries at the south coast are designed to only process heavy oil variants. Since 2019 the U.S. has blockaded heavy oil imports from Venezuela and replaced them with imports of heavy Ural variants from Russia. It has now sent two officials to Caracas to try to get Venezuela's oil flowing again. That would of course require to lift all sanctions off Venezuela and to return all confiscated companies and the gold that is owned by that country. It is not going to happen anytime soon.
Keep in mind the US not that long ago tried to assassinate Maduro and named the mafia like Juan Guaido as President. I'm sure Maduro would be happy to work with the US.

And then there is Iran.

The attempt by the U.S. to rush towards a new Iran deal to get Iranian oil flooding the markets has failed. Russia, together with Iran, has successfully blocked that move. Sanctions on Russia mean that Iran can not export its enriched uranium to Russia to be turned into nuclear fuel. No Iranian export of enriched uranium means no JCPOA deal. Secretary of State Blinken has failed to understand that. The supposedly ready to be signed return to the nuclear deal is now in jeopardy.
Quite a few parallels here with Venezuela. Trump's goons assassinated the popular anit-ISIS war general Solemeini, and has sanctioned Iran for years. Now they have some leverage. Think they unanimously are in a hurry to move the direction the US wants?

Idiots run US policy.

I do understand your point and am not questioning the morality of employees at Shell, however someone with authority made the decision to buy Russian oil and I find it hard to believe they did so without taking into account the risk vs the $$$.

The popular Solemeini!
Speaking of idiots….

I do agree the Biden admin is chock full of morons.
He was immensely popular in the Shia/Iranian world. And that's who we are now crawling in front of to get oil production up. Meanwhile, in the USA, the Biden team is all about "Go Green."

“We” aren’t crawling, the libs are crawling.

They are not mutually exclusive, right? I mean a smart approach would be to both expand oil production as much as possible in the US while also continuing to foster the growth of renewables and other economically friendly alternatives.
