Sand Fleas...Sand Aggies...

Tech 3 point shot from near mid court hits the flat part of the rim next to the board, stops the ball as if it was slightly stuck and then rolls in. You can’t win when the other team is that lucky.

Not looking forward to being the visiting team at home when tceh comes to Austin since apparently they bought all available tickets.

I'll give the officials credit that they came into the game understanding what could happen. They are getting in the middle of every single aggressive play to put out any possible emotional reactions. Had they not controlled this game in that manner there are several plays that could have caused the crowd and court to erupt. This is a physical game.

Not happy with the play of the team. I think the team was intimidated by the crowd. And I think the refs were too.
Need to get to the foul line a lot more. Drive to the hoop more aggressively.
And I don’t think ttu will shoot a high 3 point percentage in Austin.
Horns will need to crash the boards in at home as aggressively as ttu did tonight.
Horns will play better in Austin.

Agree, this team is not yet playing as a team. On almost every posession there was way too much hesitation with the ball which lead to turnovers or bad shots. Its like they get the ball and either they don't know where others should be or they aren't in the right position. Maybe its both. As has been said throughout the season ball handling is an issue. Not sure how much of this can be solved this season.

Cary,

I hate losing, but sometimes it is just a matter of the other guys having more talent. Does Tech? I don't know.

What I do know is that Tech:

1) Had more desire
2) Had more discipline
3) Were more aggressive
4) Executed their gameplan much better

Regardless of talent differential (if there is any), there is no excuse for 1 thru 4.

We need more toughness, aggressiveness, and muscle down low. Maybe get Lambeer to consult on toughness and sneaky tricks big men use in the paint in the NBA.

Tech has a couple of guys we have trouble matching up with, yes. So we have to do a couple of things to counter. Plus, ttu had the most dynamic home court I've seen/heard in a long time. That helped them.
1)We got off to a tough start when Carr got two early fouls. He stopped driving the lane and did not play his normal tight defense.
2) timmy allen was tightly double teamed from the start and could not find any passing lanes to effectively set up whoever was left open when he was double teamed.
3) Andrew Jones had another tough game. 3 pt shooting way off, turned it over, seems confused.
4) Askew did not continue the higher level I was hoping he would after a decent game against Tenn. Got himself into traps and was beaten pretty badly by ttu's bigger guards.
_____
26% 3 pt shooting (UT's against ttu) seldom beats 40+ % 3 pt shooting (ttu last night).
We cannot allow ttu's 3 point shooters to find open looks and be comfortable behind the arc.
We have to drive to the hoop, create free throws and
Crash the boards the whole game--think Dennis Rodman without the psycho nutcase stuff.
Chris Beard knows all this^^^ and at least 1000 times more than me about what can/should be done to bring the Horns up to a winning level against teams like ttu, KU, and BU.
