Sam Houston St. vs. Texas

Batter hits a fly ball to LF, runner tags up and is able to score. SH up 4-2 with 2 outs and last batter hits a ground ball to 3rd and Powell makes a strong throw across the diamond for the 3rd out. now on to the bottom of the 5th.

Kennedy pops up to the SS. Campbell gets under it too and pops up to 2nd. Brown flies out to LF. End of the 5th. same score.

according to the announcer, 2 unearned runs which means score should be tied. And Mitchell Daly has replaced Duplantier at SS. lead off batter hits a line out to Daly.

next batter flies out to CF. After going to a full count, batter gets a sharp ground ball up the middle. one on 2 outs. and a ground ball to the right of Daly and Daly makes a wide throw to 2nd and the umpire calls him safe but its clear by video O'Dowd's foot was on the bag. And after a quick replay, call is reversed, called out. End of the top half of the 6th. LBJ has thrown 89 pitches, i doubt he will be out next inning, dang good job by him tonight that's overshadowed by errors from Duplantier.

Guillemette, Powell and Flores up. Guillemette leads off with a single over the SS. Powell is hot tonight but statistically he's probably not going to hit again but we sure need him to keep it going. And dang Powell comes through with a single through the left side between SS and 3rd, unbelievable by Powell and coach Pierce has elected to keep Flores in the line up. 2 on no outs. Flores comes through with a single up the middle, scores one. Score is now 4-3 SH with 2 on, no outs. :bounce1:

aUTfan - we appreciate you stepping up, but, seriously don't be pressured to gotta do a Chop type update of the entire game! :hookem:

and O'Dowd quickly lines a ball over the 2nd baseman but they hold the runner at third, bases loaded, no outs and I think Pierce has J. Thomas pinch hitting.

and J Thomas puts the ball in play, drives in a run and they get the out at 2nd base but unable to turn the double play. Daly at bat. and Daly puts the ball in play with a high bouncing ball to 3rd that scores the go ahead run but they throw Daly out at 1st. Kennedy up with a runner in scoring position, 2 outs. Horns lead 5-4! :bounce1::bounce2::yippee:

And Kennedy hits a hard hit ball down the LF line to score another and a stand up double. :bounce1: Horns up 6-4.

Brown hits a little blooper to deep short to end the inning. To the top of the 7th, still a lot of baseball to go but a great inning. 9 outs away.

Lead off hitter puts the ball in play to the left side deep between 3rd and short, Daly is able to get a glove on it but its a tough throw and runner is safe, will be labeled a hit.
2nd hitter pops up to the left side. runner steals 2nd and next batter hits it up the middle to score a run, Horns still up but lead is already cut down 6-5. 1 on 1 out.

and wow, sharply hit ball down the 1st base line and J Thomas is able to snag it, steps on 1st, throws down to 2nd base for the tag and an unconventional double play to end the top half of the 7th.

Guillemette walks and apparently its the first walk of the night from the Bearkats. Powell is battling after going down 0-2, gets it all the way back to 3-2 fouling off several. He puts it in play and should have been a routine double play but the relay to 1st is high and Powell is on 2nd with 1 out after the ball went out of play on the throw.

There is debate amongst the umpires, they sent Powell back to 1st. under review. And after review its not looking like they got the call right. but we are back to playing and the runner is on 1st instead of 2nd.

6 outs to go. Score still 6-5 Horns and Hurley starts us off with a first pitch strike and second pitch of the inning a ground ball to Daly and a 6-3 put out.

2nd batter hits a high bouncing ball to short but Powell cuts it off and makes a hard throw to 1st for out number 2.

and the third batter of the inning is a fly out to LF and Hurley makes quick work, only needing 8 pitches to get out of the top half of the 8th.
