Saddest death in a movie

For me, kids deaths were always harder than any adult, and I suspect its the same for most people.

I have a 2 year old son which is very close to the age of the character in this movie.

The movie is Pet Sematary, and the little boy's name was Gage Creed. It wasnt that good of a film overall, but for me the death of Gage was the saddest thing I have ever seen on film. I would walk thru fire to bring back my little boy.

i thought old yeller as well.

i'll go ahead and nominate "the champ"

I don't even want to think about Pet Semetery, having a little boy and all.

I'll nominate Connery in the Untouchables. What are you prepared to do!

I don't watch Pet Sematary any more because of that scene.

Old Yeller has also left a lasting impression on me my entire life.

Another one that breaks me up is when Ricky gets gunned down in Boyz n the Hood and his brother carries him in the house and his mother starts wailing.

The angriest I believe I've ever been in a movie death is at Bruce Dern's character when he cowardly shoots John Wayne in The Cowboys. I can't stand Dern to this day because of that scene.

In Saving Private Ryan, when the guy from Dazed and Confused was knifed in the chest. Not only did it happen slowly, it was preventable.

That's easy. The girl in the red dress in Schindler's List. I have a 10 year-old daughter. I saw that movie for the first and last time before she was born. I refuse to watch the movie to this day because of that scene.

Ok, going back a ways, I'd have to say the death of Brian Piccolo in Brian's Song and Gayle Sayers subsequent speech is a real tear jerker that is hard to watch without crying. A little more recent, Big Fish really hit me hard also.

Agree 100% - this was the first scene I thought of because how sad / pissed-off it made me.

I took my daughters to see that Tarabithia movie and that girl's death got me. I think I was so hungover it magnified my inner puss

I got a couple. The dogs in Where the Red Fern Grows is right up there with Ol' Yeller.

8 seconds is also up there. It isn't a great movie (maybe not even a good movie), but it still gets to me, especially as a true story.

Maximus (Russell Crowe)

After he kills Ceaser - as he reaches to open the door to return home - seeing his son run to him and to see his wife standing there - waiting - gets me every time I see it.

Damn it - now I have to go watch it again!

Patt Garrett and Billy the Kid

James Coburn's character talks Slim Pickens and his Mexican senorita whose good with a gauge to raid some badguys wholed up. Slim doesn't want to do it.

As the gunfight ensues Slim gets gutshot and stumbles out to the lake with his women in tow. All this occurs with Bob Dylan's Knocking on Heaven's door playing. I may have shed a tear the other night.

Braveheart, The Green Mile, The Dirty Dozen

Au gus tus...

By God Woodrow it's been quite a party ain't it?
