Last month, when we were all talking about Ryan P.'s latest suspension, I wrote about how Mack was changing the landscape in recruiting...setting the bar higher to get not only the best ahtlete, but good students and good citizens. Many thought (and still think) that Mack's course was out of necessity and that not getting the absolute best athlete, regardless of whether he could spell cat without being spotted the a and t, or if he had something in his background or behavior that could lead to trouble with the law. One poster even said something to the effect, 'I'd recruit an axe murderer if he could help us win a championship,' or something similar. That, in and of itself defines OU...not Texas. But to the point, after seeing what Ryan P. has done (and possibly will do), do you think now that we're better off without these kind of kids, regardless of how "great" their athletic abilities may be?
I believe that Mack is on the right track. Time will tell...but the time of Texas not dealing with this kind of crap and still (hopefully) competing for a MNC to me is the way to go.
