RNC Convention

I thought the Republicans did well with exception of Kimberly Guilfoile. I think they should leave all Trump family members off speaking.

Libertarians always nominate kooks. I’m all for a competent independent third party, but it never happens.

I've never been impressed with her. I don't think she's a very good advocate, and she looks plastic. (And hell, she married Gavin Newsome. How smart can she be?) She was a Victoria Secret model, so she was obviously hot at one point, but instead of being ok with aging gracefully, she has very obviously had work done. And it doesn't look good. Nothing is less sexy than plastic skin and duck lips, and that includes wrinkles.

I thought it was just me! I had one of those little pukes in my mouth looking at her last night...

John Podhoretz' review of Night 1 here

"The first night of the Republican National Convention was, all in all, sensationally effective — and effective in ways that the mainstream media and its Twitter chatterers clearly found it impossible to understand.

America’s opinion leaders loathe Donald Trump so much that it remains a great puzzlement to them how he can retain the support of even 42 percent of the population, rather than, you know, zero.

The implicit theory they share is the “deplorables” theory — that anyone who wants Trump to be and remain president is, at root, a bad person or someone too easily tempted by false promises and evil lies.

If they had ears to listen, they might be able to understand it better after tonight....."

I knew it was effective when I switched over to CNN after Vernon Jones and Herschel Walker spoke. The deer in the headlight looks while they tried to scramble to something negative was priceless.

Oh and after the first responder session with Trump, CNN acted disgusted that they were not social distancing while not social distancing.

I thought Herschel was one of the good guys?

Vernon Jones and Maximo Alvarez were the most effective speeches followed by Haley, Klacik and Walker.

Every speech at the DNC was epic and monumental and a home run but at the RNC, CNN can't find anything nice to say....

Not sure why but our TV was on PBS during the Walker segment. You know what the first pundit said? He said Walker knows Trump because Trump owned the USFL team Walker was on. Then he ranted how Trump ruined the USFL and drove it out of business. That was what he gleaned from Herschel's heartfelt speech.

So, they don't have to reach far to hate.

I've never heard the mainstream political media characterize any Republican National Convention positively. If the convention goes smoothly, they'll call it "scripted." A similar Democratic convention is "well-executed" and "organized." If there is some drama or disagreement, it is "chaotic" and "divided." A similar Democratic convention is "lively" and "spirited."

A speaker who speaks loudly and with emotion is "throwing red meat" or "pandering to the base." A similar Democratic speaker is "passionate." A speaker who is articulate and motivating is "slick." A similar Democrat is "inspiring."

It's just raw partisanship on display with the press.

Of course i'm not MSM. I'm not even a GOPer or a Trumper but what I saw (besides Kim Guilfoyle) was a very good first day. Much more professional than the Democrats.

Chris Cuomo basically called them Uncle Tom's and that they were "just carrying his water."

Obviously, they detest black Republicans like David Duke hates Martin Luther King. A black Democrat speaking is a "mark of diversity" and "inclusion." A black Republican speaking is at best a "cheap token" and at worst, "an Uncle Tom."

White culture needs an equivalent word or phrase to Uncle Tom

Remember when Wolf Blitzer was celebrating at the 2016 Dem convention with champagne?
