I really wish we would have done this about 4 years earlier, so my mom could see him.

she really wanted us to have kids...

Congrats, Rip.

My boy just turned 1 yr. last weekend. It's the best. Someone above commented on looking forward to the weekends so you can spend the entire weekend with them and it is so true.

Truly awesome.

My twin daughters are now almost 3. Some advise:

1) Learn to deal with crying and whining. Not much you can do about it.
2) Your house will now be a mess. Nothing you can do about it
3) Get sleep whenever you can.

4) Don't listen to too much advice from your family, friends, and people like me. You and the Mrs will know what to do.

Congrats....it's the hardest job you will ever love!

As the father of 17 and 15 year old daughters, let me just say that your life is over. Ha Ha!

But congrats all the same!

RIP.......I just noticed your post about your mom, and it brought back some memories. Both my parents passed before my daughters were born. My mother desperately wished I would have children (I'm told......she never told me), and then I got TWO!!! It's a real shame my kids will never know their grandparents, but the rest of the family has done an excellent job filling in. No shortage of love in my family! I often tell my girls stories about my mom and dad. When yours is old enough, be sure and show him lots of photos of your mom and tell some personal stories. It won't be quite the same, but it's better than nothing at all.

Happy Fathers Day,

That's awesome!! Best wishes to Mom and Baby. I often wonder who has the worst go of it, Mom giving birth to Baby or Baby getting bent out of shape being born.

That is a very handsome boy. Congrats.

Hey Rip beautiful child you have there.

My son is 20 months, so I'll throw a couple of tips your way. Do not be afraid to call the triage nurse with any questions or concerns. This is their job and they will help you out. Second, learn how to swaddle your baby. Wrap that blanket snug. And, third, in your mind find a happy place when you get close to losing your cool. It will happen. Work on it every time. Because when your child grows older, they can read you like a book. You're setting the foundation for future behavioral patterns.

Mercy, I need to keep working on mine. Day by day.....

I too lost my mother before my son was born. It's tough, but tell your child every day where you came from. Godspeed........

It is normal for her to have depression. She may be laughing one minute and bawling the next. Don't take it personally and just give her time.

What an adorable boy!!! Congratualtions.

Oh, no... I don't take it personally.

I just want her to realize that it is normal for her to feel that way...

it is definitely normal. you should look it up on google and show her. It sucks having those feelings right after you have a baby as it should be one of the happiest moments, and it is in most ways, except our bodies just don't know it.

Great photo, Rip. My boys are 8 and 10 now and such a joy — and work! but so worth it. They are crazy and funny and ALWAYS HUNGRY GOOD GRIEF THEY DON’T STOP EATING and smart and beautiful and creative and wonderful.

They grow up so fast. We have tons of photos and videos and they get such a kick out of seeing themselves when they were smaller.

Life is good.

Thank you....
Yes, he is completely awesome...

He was diagnosed as being mildly autistic about 2 months ago, so some things have been a struggle....

Thank you, and I'm sorry about that, man....

I'm sure it'll be up and down like everything else in life.

And this afternoon my 10 year old flies off the trampoline and breaks his wrist while I’m working in Charlotte, NC. The wife is at the hospital with him tonight and I can’t get home until tomorrow afternoon.

Boys.
