Redirecting Ads on hornfans??

Its def something on this site - IE a problem ad. This many people wouldn't be getting it only from visiting this board and I doubt multiple people reporting problems ALL just have something wrong with their machine or dont know how to use a computer

me too.
I just left it open and went to Hornfans again and it didn't pop up again.

No problems today.

Interestingly enough, despite the statement that "many" people have had this, it seems to be very few. And most of the people on this thread saying they've had it have something in common.

However, while it is almost impossible that it is actually a HornFans problem, if there is a chance that it is ad related then we'd like to eliminate it. Therefore, IF you're having this problem, PM me exactly what happened and exactly what actions you performed. Including whether you moved your cursor over an ad or if the cursor was on top of an ad when the page was opening. Also, the url that you are redirected to.

Depending upon the PMs received we should be able to determine if there's a problem and where it is coming from.

I got on Hornfans from 23 different computers yesterday after having the problem on my own laptop, and the exact same thing happened on every single one without exception. I'd click on a board or a thread or a profile, then while the page was loading, it would send me to that vista thing Hayden described and kept telling me that "your internet is loading too slow, your computer may be infected" during the redirect.

happened to me at three times...all as hayden described. Told me my vista was infected with spyware, which is interesting as I have a two-week old mac. Closed out all of my safari windows.

nobody's blaming HF, but it is most certainly a HF related issue. no doubt about that.

Why not do as you were asked to help the problem and email him with the details of what went on so it can be investigated?

So far, I've had 1 PM. Thanks Big Horn. Of course, more PMs expaining what actually happened would help with our investigation even though his info is a start.

I've tried to get this to happen. I logged in both with IE and Firefox. I turned off my AVG safe search and other protection. I changed boards, opened threads, moused over ads, clicked on ads, but I can't get the reported problem to occur. I was hoping it would so I could PM you with the details, but no such luck.

Hopefully more people who have had the issue will send you the details, because when something like this does happen, it's a real pain in the ***.

Probably nobody can get it to happen again because bad ad has already been pulled by FastClick or VallueClick or whoever the provider is.

It was a redirection to InternetSecurityDeluxe.com. If anyone is really interested, I can give you the URL we were redirected to and you can see for yourself. The page actually appears to be clean of any nasties, it's just designed to scare you into downloading software from them.

Thanks guys. I'm sorry if I seemed dismissive of the issue over the weekend. With this many reports, it does seem to be more widespread than was originally reported.

We haven't made any changes to HornFans that would affect this. Our ads are all provided through a single network aimed at getting corporate sponsors for HornFans, but they have outsourced some of our extra inventory. If it is an ad provider issue, I suspect that is where it is occuring. We'll contact them today and see what we can find out.

Please do PM Orangeblood with any specifics on what exactly you experience. What site does it go to? When does it happen? What happens to HornFans when this happens? Is it a pop-up or does it actually redirect the page? Does it happen immediately when you click a link or does the next HornFans page render and then you are redirected?

Thanks for any help you guys can give and I apologize for whatever is going on, if indeed it is something through our ad people.
