Redirecting Ads on hornfans??

Is anyone else clicking on links here on hornfans (whether fora or topic threads) and getting redirected to some possibly bogus pc-immunization website? I've had it happen like three times today and all while browsing hornfans.

Nothing for me, although this is the only link I've clicked on HF, today.

I got it too. It ended up closing my browser and opening its own window. It identified four virus' that I had. NOT!!!!

It several hoops to jump through to close the dam thing. I immediately ran a scan therafter. Luckily, nothing popped up.

I too would like to know what is going on with this.

It happened to me a few times this morning. The funny thing is it said I had some viruses and that I needed to download some Vista protection package. The only thing is I'm on a Mac, running Safari and Leopard.

I've received it several times today. It keeps setting my Norton alarm off too. Has anyone emailed a moderator?

It happened to me once (and I use Mozilla with adblocker). I thought I accidentally moused over a banner ad. You're saying it happens automatically when clicking on forum or topic threads?

I can tell you guys that this has nothing to do with HornFans or with our ad providers. It may be some virus on your systems, but it isn't anything on our side.

It hit me twice earlier today (an offer for a free vista virus check). Both times I hit 'cancel' and it would spawn another page & act like it was scanning my system & finding all kinds of viruses for my vista OS which is pretty funny since I'm using Safari on a mac. Haven't seen it since but it definitely came about as a result of surfing hornfans.

Sounds like some of you got infected with some malware somehow. Go DL the freeware programs
Spyware Blaster and Spybot and install and run them. Make sure you check for updates first.

If you're still having trouble, here's one resource for help:

It's Hornfans. The fact that every single one of us that has this occur, has had it on Hornfans supports that fact. Granted, they maybe a certain weakness within each of our systems that allows it to happens. But it still originates from this site.

PS, I haven't seen this problem.

I'm running Firefox with NoScript and AdblockPlus and the two programs I mentioned (Spyware Blaster prevents malware from loading). Along with Zone Alarm firewall and Avast! virus scanner.

Nope, nothing here. I guess I can use a computer better than others or something. Checked with a few people too, nothing with them either. Go back to sleep and wake up or drink less.

Nice try though.

Happened to me, and Firefox 3.0 blocked it. Can't be a mere conincidence that so many have had it here at HF.

And I can use a computer just fine, thank you very much.

Actually happened to me on 2 separate computers, and i wasn't even logged in. These were hospital computers, btw, and the only sites I had gone to were HF and CNN. So I vote that it's not everyone else having a virus.

Weird. Why are some having problems but the vast majority not? I see some mention Firefox but highly doubt that has anything to do with it

Usually I am the one that has issues somewhere before patches or fixes are made available. I guess my luck is better. Whatever it is, hope it gets better for those having problems if there even is one. Hope it is a simple solution.

I got it twice yesterday and Nortons showed it as a virus. It came from Hornfans. I do not run Firefox.

I hesitantly logged back on this morning, scared of getting another virus.

was it a vista spyware package thing that basically hijacked your browser?

i got that night before last while on hornfans too.

weird.
