RC on Texas at Dallas A&M Club

RC normally does not talk smack but here ya go. I took this from a post on TexAgs.com.

I was proud of him for taking numerous jabs at the sips. He really came out swingin'. Said he's "had it up to here [top of head] with all the orange propaganda." Compared the "Mack Brown" era (last three years) to A&M's last three years. We have one less victory than they do over the past three years, but we also have one more conference championship than they do! He also drew great raves from the crowd when he talked about how Chris Simms had one good quarter against our injury-riddled secondary, and all of a sudden he's a Heisman candidate. Amen, RC!

ole' RC had better get in as much now as he can... You and I know it's his farewell tour, especially with the Sidelines show and all...

He should take his beatings with a little more pride. In the last three yrs., you are 1-2 vs. us. You forget to mention, somehow, forget the sympathy bowl and it would be 0-3.

- God Bless Texas!

Ol RC always manages to talk about 'tu', whether public press conferences in Feb., his public 'ask the coach' columns, or in private Aggie gatherings. Someone needs to point out to him that another team in the South division actually won the division, and conference, and NC. But credit RC for using the Aggie's hate for all things orange to distract their expectations from the real prize.

RC is telling the Gomers the same story on his summer tour. Its funny because you don't hear Mr. Snakeoil making these kind of comments about UT's arch rivals. RC is desperate and is sweating bullets. The thing he fails to tell the Aggies is the following:
-Mack Brown took a 4-7 program and has won 9 games each of 1st 3 years and has kicked my *** in recruiting so that now he has much better talent than I have. He has tied for the 10th most wins over that period and has beaten me 2 out of 3 games.
-Mack Brown's Texas teams have won 27 games over the past 3 years while I have won 25, despite the fact that I have had 16 guys drafted in the NFL and he has only had 7. 31 teams over the past 3 years have had more players drafted, but Mack still has the 10th most wins.
-Mack Brown and his staff have the Longhorn set up to finish in the top 10 for the 1st time since the early 1983.
-Mack Brown and his staff have done a wonderful job bringing their program back to life. After all they only finished in the top 25 times 4 times since 1985 before Mack arrived. However, Mack has put them in the top 25 each of his 1st 3 years.
-Texas knocked off Nebraska to break their 52 home game winning streak. That Nebraska team has had 17 players drafted over the past 3 years, while UT has had 7.
-Mack Brown and his staff have taken a defense that ranked 85th in total defense the year before he arrived and improved it to rank 56 (1998), 6 (1999) and 7 (2000).
-Mack and his staff have set up the Horns to contend for the National Title over the next few years given his strong recruiting classes. Consider the following:
-Mack Brown's 1st recruiting class, which was ranked anywhere from 10 - 20 in the country, will just now now be true Srs and RS Juniors.
-Mack Brown's 2nd recruiting class (Simms/Redding, etc.), which was ranked #1 in country will be true Jrs and RS Soph. Those guys were only Soph & FR fresh last year.
-Mack Brown's 3rd recruiting class (Big 3), which was ranked top 5ish, will only be Soph & RS Fresh this year. All of those freshman receivers were too much for my injured/beat up/without any depth secondary.
-To really be a serious contender for the National title year in and out, you have to have top flight talent. I've studied the top teams and this is what I found. The consistent top 5/10 teams have the most talent (other than team's I coach) and that means they put the most players in the NFL. Consider the following info from over the past 3 years.
Drafted Draft 3 year Wins
Players Rank wins rank
FLA St 20 1t 34 1
Ohio st 20 1t 25 15
Tenn 20 1t 30 5t

Fla 17 4t 29 7t
KSU 17 4t 33 2
Tex A&M 16 7 25 15t
Ga 15 8t 25 15t
Miami 15 8t 29 7t
Mich 15 8t 29 7t
Wisc 15 8t 29 7t
ND 14 12 23 24t

Wins 3 Yr Drafted 3 year
3 yrs Rank players rank

FSU 34 1 20 1t
KSU 33 2 17 4t
NEB 31 3t 17 4t
Virg Tech 31 3t 10 21t
Tenn 30 5t 20 1t
Wisc 30 5t 15 8t
Fla 29 7t 17 4t

Mich 29 7t 15 8t
Texas 27 10t 7 32t
Ga Tech 27 10t 6 37t
Oregon 27 10t 6 37t

Of the tops 11 teams in terms of drafted players, 8 are in the top 10 of wins during that time span. The only ones that are not are Ga, OSU and A&M. Also, of the top 12 teams in terms of wins over the past 3 years, only 4 (including Mack Browns' Tex Longhorns) are not in the top 10 in drafted players. Considering the talent in all 4 of UT classes now and UT should start to have 5-7 players drafted each year, which will give them the talent to play with the big boys.

-In closing I hope you fans show some mercy on me as I am the only coach (Cooper got the axe & so did Donnan at Ga) remaining, on a team that is in the top 10 in players drafted, but not wins over over the past 3 years.

Lnghrn- great post! I would use the same reasoning when posters bash our coaches. The talent is here but growing. I think the next few years will come to shed light on that.

RC is the winningest coach in the ultra-storied a$m history. They would be fools to get rid of him regardless of how bad we continue to kick ***!!

Does RC think he's in the 3rd grade?? Next thing we'll hear is his dad could have beat up Mack's dad, and if Mack disagrees, he'll meet him at the bike rack after school.

Grow up, RC.

After last year's game R.C. has as much right to talk smack about Texas and Chris S. as Mack B. has to talk smack about Oklahoma's team. You do not hear smack out of Mack Brown's mouth! Appears to be fear to me

When I heard Mack speak at the Longhorn Foundation Golf Tournament in Houston, he made it clear that we at Texas don't compare ourselves to other schools, other schools compare themselves to Texas. I guess R.C. proved his point.

RC used to be a nice guy, way back when everything was going A&M's way. He sure doesn't handle adversity very well.

You come to see what you want to see; you come to see but you never come to know.

orangeBanjo, you hit the nail on the head with your last sentence. What better way to rally support for yourself than by taking potshots at UT? How do you think the aggies would feel if he stood up there and said this:

"Gosh, our win total has decreased each of the past 2 seasons, I'm losing with incredible regularity when it comes to recruiting the bulk of the top talent in the state, I'm losing our bowl game each year (including that third-tier bowl in Shreveport), my name is regularly mentioned in preseason magazine lists of 'teams on the decline' and 'coaches on the hot seat,' our fans are getting restless, and our program as a whole is now sitting squarely in 3rd place in the Southern Division alone."

Lnghorn-- nice list of facts, especially those that use draft picks and win totals to show that Mack has already done a lot more with less while RC is among the kings of doing less with more.

TUisfunny-- how absurd to start this thread by saying that "RC usually does not talk smack." He's taken plenty of shots at Mack Brown from day one--some brazen and some thinly-veiled. Like when Mack started getting boatloads of early recruits and RC tells the media something to the effect of "some new guys just don't understand how it (recruiting) works around here." RC has had one nervous eye on Austin from the day it appeared that Brown had rekindled widespread enthusiasm for the Texas program. If you haven't heard RC talking smack, you're just not paying any ******* attention.

Maybe RC is the best "fit" for the aggie faithful. What other head coach would continue belittling the accomplishments of another team's QB after that QB had just ripped his hapless secondary a new one? Simms could have easily thrown for 450+ yards and at least another couple of scores if Mack hadn't reeled in the offense in the 4th quarter.

Keep yapping, RC, and I'll just keep enjoying your slide.

WHOA Lnghrn, be proud of that post. It is a rare day indeed when you lay the facts down so undeniably even the the Aggies are scared to jump on and attempt aggie logic spin against that kind of info. Hats off.

I propose this goes to classics, for three reasons:

1) I want to revisit RC's quote on T+2

2) I have never seen an Aggie get hung out to dry quite like this guy just did.

3) The next time some gomer pipes up about Coach Brown, I want to quickly and easily be able to cut, paste and tell him to shut the hell up.

Lgnrn-From now on I will consider you the president of the Mac fan club. I am one of the many aggies that is on the fence aboout R.C. At times I want to fire him for not winning enough games on the other hand I like him because he runs a clean program. At times I want to fire him for not recruiting enough talent, but then look at the number of NFL players he has produced. No our recruiting class last year was not ranked number 1 but recruiting is not an exact science so I think our recruiting class was ranked high enough.
As far as Mac is concerned, I think most Longhorn fans are forming their opinions about Mac based on his recruiting classes. The jury is still out on whether or not he can coach. To this point he has not been able to keep his team motivated for an entire season as a result there have been games like NCstate and Stanford. I guess I would sum up my thoughts with one word about Mac and that is POTENTIAL because he has not done it yet. (It) meaning won a championship.

i'm not on the fence about RC. i want to see that gap-toothed buffoon out on his ***.

i also want a&m to bring in some other bozo, who will shred what small amount of credibility they have.

Hey aandmsucks...there was a very wise man who once warned that there will come a time
when "people gather around those who tell them what their itching ears want to hear" referring to a
time when people will gather around those who tell lies because they don't want to hear the truth.
You ags have been relegated to hoping that the fact that no one in the country thinks your program is any
better than Texas Tech will motivate your team (guess what dumbass? you numbnuts were saying that
last year and your guys got motivated to lose 5 games...one to a winless CU team at home and almost lost to OSU...the worst team in the US) to "surprise a few people."

ol' arrasee is out trying to fool you gomers again...first he said don't worry Mack doesn't understand
the lay of the land...I'll handle him, then after getting his *** handed to him you gomers gobbled up the
excuse that the only reason it "appears' Mack is doing better than me is that his office is bigger than mine,
then after underachieving for two straight years with his talent (and getting blasted for being realistic when he said earlier this year about his 2001 team...that they aren't the most talented team) he's out making derogatory
cracks about the team that's already passed him by...and you gomers are too stupid to see how he's playing
you like a cheap guitar. I'm almost embarrassed for you gomers. -thirty-

P.S. How many kids has arrasee thrown off of his team in the last 3 or so years? Kinda seems ironic that arrasee
would be throwing kids off for violating rules when his vows mean nothing and rules mean nothing to him...can you say h-y-p-o-c-r-i-t-e?

Pain is inevitable, misery is optional.

TUisfunny says he's on the fence about RC but mentions the No #1 reason that aggies(if they were smart) should fire his worthless bootie, "he doesn't do much with talent that winds up in the NFL" Hey it's not the talent, it's what he does with it.

Mike Shanahan, arguably the best coach in the NFL, didn't send his son to collie station to learn about coaching, he paid his way to TEXAS.

RC's best recruiting job since Mack Brown's been at TEXAS has been out of the secraterial pool. Unless she's running a 4.3 and packing at least 50-60 more lbs, he'd better warm up the resume writer.

Mack continues to impress the bejebers out of me "We don't compare ourselves with other schools" SWEEEEEEET!!!!!!!

"the futures so bright I gotta wear shades"

ag coaches talking trash about "tu" is the equivalent of politicians talking about flag burning amendments and heel wrestlers putting down local sports teams - a cheap, easy, reliable and ultimately useless way to get a desired crowd reaction.

In reply to:

It's funny when aggies yap about how RC is superior and bring up the Horns' games against NC State and Stanford. It's as though they've completely blocked Colorado's trip to Kyle Field out of their tiny little minds ...

You come to see what you want to see; you come to see but you never come to know.

R.C. is not such a bad guy. He kicked our butts for a quite a while. I'd rather see him at A&M than Sherill. Now, Arkansas' Nutt I don't like at all.

Reading the description of RC's comments, it sounds as though he has been an avid reader of Texags.com over the past few months. He told what was essentially an Aggie pep rally exactly what they wanted to hear. Nothing at all wrong with that, but what I found curious was reading the A&M fan's comments over on Texags. They must have really lowered their expectations of RC. They were praising him as though he had gone out on a limb and promised a national championship.

When Mack Brown makes his rounds of speaking to the various Longhorn Clubs I'm sure he will tell us alot of things we want to hear. He may say some things in that setting that he wouldn't dare say on the radio or at the Big 12 media kickoff in a few weeks. When he does I hope we don't slobber all over this board the way the Aggies have on their board.

DaveC, I'll bet Mack doesn't tell us to lighten up on hin or his staff, and doesn't compare UT's performance to ou, unl, or atm. And I bet he doesn't suggest that some other school's player might be overrated (see rc's comments on Simms).

TUisfunny--

You say "the jury is still out on whether or not Brown can coach?"

Go remind the jury that Brown is 2-1 against Solich, 1-1 against Stoops, and 2-1 against RC. All this within 3 years of taking over a demoralized 4-7 bunch that, as Lnghrn pointed out, had very few NFL-caliber players. Hell, the team he inherited couldn't tackle my Aunt Darleen as she walked back to her pew afer the offertory--yet only months later they were holding the aggies to negative rushing yardage. That had nothing whatsoever to do with recruiting.

RC should lighten up on Chris. After all, his aggy teams made Ricky look like the Heisman winner he would become. They gave Chris a leg/arm up with last years game. Regardless who the next Heisman winner is from The University, the aggys will help him achieve it. Thanks for noticing RC.
