Random Season News

Only 13 active FBS coaches have winning records vs. #AP Top 25 (at the time of the game) since 2001:

I realize it's easier that way, but for the most part, it would be more accurate to rank top-# wins by where the teams ended. Exhibit A: UCLA gets credit for beating a top-10 team when they played Texas in 1997.

Damn, that coach everyone bad mouths may not be as bad as people ***** about him since Fred Akers was near 85& against Top 20 teams (nearly 30 games) outside of OU, and he was 5-4-1 against Barry

:hookem2:

If it included all the teams Texas "should" beat I would.

I dont think anyone would be happy, including you, if we lose to ou every year + lose every single one of the next two decades worth of Tier 1 OOC opponents + lose every bowl? Maybe I'm wrong, but I just cant see '"well, at least we are beating Kansas again every year" carrying the day.

Beating top 25 teams is not TH's problem. I'd be happy if he could just beat Maryland, Okie lite and the Hillbillies

Earlier today I happened upon this article: Coaching overachievers and underachievers which among other things says that Herman tends to end up with a better record than you would expect if you just looked at teams' total season statistics and used that to predict everyone's record.

Anyway, in trying to explain this, he ends with the perfect quote to summarize it:

For every strong performance (namely, wins over Oklahoma and Georgia), there was a dud or near-disaster — a loss to Maryland, near-losses to Tulsa, Baylor, Texas Tech, Kansas, etc. Against anyone but the top teams, they did the bare minimum . . . . as if he knows his team has a finite number of good plays and deploys as few of them as possible against lesser opponents.

Charlie ran him off. My memory is that it was for multiple failed drug tests. Suspended him first, then later dismissed him when he failed subsequent testing. That was a very tough period for the OL after both starting OTs were sent packing -- took a long time to fully recover. Basically all the way until now. Ugh. But I cant recall any assault type issues with Harrison.

Brendan Frasier? That's giving them more credit than they deserve.

Others see aggy as we have seen them for a long-long time.... delusionary.

Yancy McKnight has his own system --

According to his "explosive testing" -- the three most "explosive" freshmen are Tyler Owens, Jake Smith and Kenyatta Watson.

His "700-pound squat club" consists of Marquez Bimage, Samuel Cosmi, Ta'Quon Graham and Gerald Wilbon.
