That was awful coaching. On the play prior, the Bears prepared for the Hail Mary and let Washington pick up 10-15 yards to get within range.

Nothing wrong with that at all. I remember blowu scoring over 60 against us more than once doing dink and dunk.

The short passes aren't the issue, especially if the WR's do a good job of blocking. The issue is 2nd and 20, 3rd and 12, when the defense can ignore the run and pin their ears back and charge straight at the QB. Quinn doesn't have the ability to buy an extra few seconds he needs for the WR's to get far enough down the field for a 1st down. Vince could certainly do that, and even Colt, but Quinn simply can't.

When Texas is on schedule on 1st and 2nd down Texas is going to score a lot of points. Off schedule, everything changes.

Not a bad prank. And I'm sure they'll smash USAFA on the football field this Saturday. This is a big-time rebuilding season for the Falcons - pretty good team last year, but most of the key players graduated. So a lot of inexperienced players learning this season - but not a lot of wins.
