Eventually he was going to get another shot figured it would be a juco or something but nope it’s high school
Yeah, Waco will be a tough out, and the toughness is likely to increase equal to the number of players he encourages to use steroids, just like his last HS gig.I bet Waco High starts to be a tough out.
No need to go back over all his negatives, but the guy can truly coach football.
edit.... I was also just imagining that Waco High School and Baylor may have to trade stadiums once the high school gets going and Baylor falls a little further.
Not much suspense with this one, except wondering where aggy is
Duke Carlisle has to be in the mix too. I'm not sure where though.Bobby Layne (You said "all time")
No denying VY was special in college and willed that team to win. Our first two Rose Bowls, and he owned both of them.
I would put Street ahead of Colt
Agreed. So many times we saw him do the seemingly impossible.I've watched a lot of football. VY was the best as far as I'm concerned. I was amazed by him and I just can't put put anyone else close to him. That Rose Bowl victory over USC was an incredible achievement if we are to believe they hype they laid on USC prior to the game. The USC players to a man admitted later he was unstoppable. I know Street did some great things but VY was on another level as far as I'm concerned.
Warning: Phil Steel has a long history of overrating us --
247Sports take: We like Texas, too, and are picking the Longhorns to finish no worse than second in the Big 12 this season.

Carlisle and Street were very good for their time and they both delivered undefeated seasons and a natty. They both deserve a highly honored place among Longhorn QB's. But neither had to carry a team the way Vince and Colt did. And neither had skills to compare against Vince and Colt.Duke Carlisle has to be in the mix too. I'm not sure where though.
Each of the four had a different skill set. All four never quit so they were equal in the most important "will to win" skill set. While he was a better than average passer, it was Vince's ability to run that set him apart. Colt was the best passer of the bunch. Carlie was the best tactician. Street was the best athlete and probably could have rivaled Colt as the best passer if he had run the same offense as Colt. And neither had skills to compare against Vince and Colt.
We have to remember also that Duke played both ways and delivered at least one game changing/saving interception at a HUUUGE moment. I'm not disagreeing that VY was the best ever. He was. VY was a game changer, but Duke was a game changer on both sides of the ball.Carlisle and Street were very good for their time and they both delivered undefeated seasons and a natty. Excellent point my friend. VY ahtleticism versus Colt’s lethal accuracy if both had a natty would be legit debate. Wish we could have seen Colt healthy and VY senior year. Ifs and buts ...I have a feeling some would view McCoy vs VY differently if the '09 championship would have been delivered....which I believe it would have been....

Absolutely agree on all points. One of the hardest things to do in any type of sports analysis in my opinion is reconcile/compare players from different eras. Very difficult to do for a myriad of reasons. I'm glad a few of the "older" guys were brought up. Layne came in at #4 here.

Street could throw the ball well enough. His 4th and 3 pass to Peschel was brilliant. And Street was nails under pressure. As I said, he belongs in an honored place because of what he accomplished. But, Street was not the passer that Colt was. Not even close. But he ran the wishbone to almost perfection, which is what we needed from him. Each of the four had a different skill set. All four never quit so they were equal in the most important "will to win" skill set. While he was a better than average passer, it was Vince's ability to run that set him apart. Anybody know what time Herman goes on for media day
I think VY is on record as saying that he wishes he would have played his senior year. If he had he would have erased any and all doubt about who is the greatest college QB of all time.
