Does Sark’s assessment surprise anyone?

I can’t get into Sark’s head but one plausible explanation — if we are to believe that Card was gaining separation— was to create urgency in Thompson’s mind. If they’re now even (pure speculation), that would suggest that CT would have the edge.

To be clear, I want whichever guy can take us to my 11-1 season (or 12-0).

Interesting poll LC.

48 voters so far...

Thompson leads by 6 votes including mine from early on.

Both seem to be good leaders on the field, which as we all know is very important.

It sounds like from reports Card is or was getting more first string reps. I think that is a clue, maybe small, maybe not.

Today, my hunch is Sark might, might lean to or ultimately pick Card due to less possibile turnovers - INT's.

We will see....

From Mike Roach above: "The conspiracy theory stuff is a little much imo" Did I miss something? What conspiracy?

HalRex,

Just out of curiosity, why disagree? I don't mind disagreements, but can you elaborate? What am I missing with regard to a conspiracy? That was my original question.

I think it would be fun for those of us who aren't in the know to just wildly speculate about said conspiracy.

My best guess is Sark is trying to torpedo the QB room and tank the season to try and convince Ewers he can come here and be the savior... and CT and Card are in on it because they prefer to be backups.

FWIW....Multiple outlets and pieces out today now reporting Card has the lean and is most likely to be named QB1.
We will see....but I do think it wise to give someone the nod with some practice left ahead of game 1.
For this reason, I hope to hear more definitive info in next few days, one way or the other.

With regard to “the decision,” all we can do is speculate and opine. I’m firmly in the Casey camp for reasons I have already expressed. Here’s another one:

With which QB under center will Bijan likely prosper more? I think it’s CT because he’s the better runner, and defenses will have to scheme for that element + be prepared for a scrambling QB when plays break down. For that reason, I suspect that they cannot overcommit to stopping Bijan. And to me, that could be a big deal. After all, BR is by far the most lethal offensive weapon we have.

There were reports that Casey was throwing a lot of picks

Reports from whom? Someone that really knows football and receivers ran the right routes? Or is it someone that knows interceptions are bad, but is clueless as to where the WRs were supposed to be. We have had a history (particularly over the last decade) of clueless WRs making the wrong reads and not being where they are supposed to be.

I don't give a **** if Sark names the starter five minutes before kickoff. We pay him $5 million a year, and if he doesn't make the correct decision, he will be gone. Right now I trust his judgement.

This guy is still in shock. He leaves Tuscaloosa for a "dream job", then finds out his third team in Tuscaloosa was better than our starters. I dare say, we do not have a single player that could start for Bama - don't bother whining "what about Bijan". Saban has 5-6 of those.

If it were receivers constantly running the wrong routes, it would stand to reason that both QBs would be throwing pics. If it's just Casey turning it over, there's something else going on.

Sabre, did you have to go there? Man. Now all the HF doubters are going to be obsessing — for years — about our inferior talent.

Let’s see if you’re right…
