So weird that you pulled this thread to the top... I was just thinking about it the other day! My wife and I were talking to another couple who had recently got engaged and the whole protocol behind asking for the blessing.

Looks as though the OP hasn't posted on Hornfans since this question, so I'm guessing we'll never get a response.

The best possible advice I can give is the manner in which you propose.

1. Go out and buy a gorilla suit
2. Have her friends lure her out to a somewhat wooded area
3. When she is least suspecting, jump out of a tree all the while yelling, "I'M APE FOR YOU!!!!! MARRY ME!!!!"
