I couldn't read the article. I'm out of "freebies" apparently, although I don't remember going there.

That may be a state-wide trend, but San Antonio keeps tilting further left. Mayor and County Judge are hardcore lefties. Two city council seats up for grabs this time both went to left-wingers. The Express-News, the only paper in town (owned by Hurst Corp.), spews the far-left party line verbatim. Even the NBA coach, Greg Popovich, makes national news for his liberal rants. The GOP only has a chance in the predominantly anglo northside of town.

These might be goofy schemes to encourage vaccination, but I don't have a huge problem with doing things to incentivize it if the government is really sure of its safety and effectiveness. One of my big complaints here is that the UK gives you absolutely no upside for getting the vaccine. Masking is still required. Testing and quarantines are still required for travel. The vaccine has no impact on those requirements at all. I think that's crazy. Like I mentioned earlier, I'll put my faith in the vaccine when the NHS puts its faith in it.
 
I disagree. The democrats want to reward bad behavior by giving away money, drugs etc. Same as trying to wipe out student debt or a wealth tax on those who saved money versus poor money management.

I don't have a problem with the state incentivizing vaccines through pot stores distribution sites. My assumption is that they have data to support that the customer demographic of said stores are a group in need of the vaccine. Given the drag on the healthcare system and economic growth that positive COVID infections have demonstrated then the State has an interest in getting everyone vaccinated.

Fortunately all 3.9M already vaccinate were entered into the lottery. This pot incentive is only available to those getting their first vaccine at a clinic setup at a pot store.

The government incentivizing things begs the question of why the hell the government is involved in paying for and distributing vaccines. This is central planning, single payer healthcare, and Republicans have 0 problem with it.

My problem is with the government being involved at all. Incentivization is a minor issue assuming they should. But it is a step away from subsidy which I am 100% against.

The vaccines are being given for "free," so there is obviously a subsidy. Is it centrally planned and effectively single payer? Yes. I think Republicans are ok with it on this, because they view it as a national emergency and prioritize everyone getting it over pretty much anything else. On the vaccine development and implementation, we basically went to a wartime economy.

Yes. War and crisis is always the excuse the government gives for taking over more and more of our lives.

Good thing we get to live our lives based on what Republicans and Democrats think is important as opposed to what each of us think are important. Freedom dies a little more everyday.

Yes, you are correct. War and crisis are the excuse government frequently gives for taking things over, and I'm generally hostile to that excuse. (I would have handled Covid very differently than Trump or Biden.) However, I can't say that it's never a justifiable excuse.

Centers would be staffed by educators trained in building relationships with students. These educators would also serve as the trainer for their campus on social-emotional learning and restorative justice, which seeks to empower students to resolve conflicts on their own.
The rooms are designed to soothe students. They would feature flexible seating for restorative circles, calming colors, mood meters, and fidget and sensory tools.

My sister, who is a longtime teacher/administrator and liberal, gets pissed off about this stuff. First thing is state law dictates this, not the local school board. 2nd thing if you don't behave or try to learn, you don't belong in the classroom. It doesn't matter what race you are. Percentages have no meaning in the real world.

The worrisome factor here is that she (and the other members of the Squad) represent districts where an overwhelming portion of the electorate supports this lunacy. Why do these people believe this garbage they are spouting?
