Post Left Wing looniness here

"The entire second chapter of the framework is about connecting math to social justice concepts like bias and racism: "Teachers can support discussions that center mathematical reasoning rather than issues of status and bias by intentionally defining what it means to do and learn mathematics together in ways that include and highlight the languages, identities, and practices of historically marginalized communities." Teachers should also think creatively about what math even entails: "To encourage truly equitable and engaging mathematics classrooms we need to broaden perceptions of mathematics beyond methods and answers so that students come to view mathematics as a connected, multi-dimensional subject that is about sense making and reasoning, to which they can contribute and belong."

This is the core of Liberalism and Seattle/OU are very foolish to call themselves Liberals.

Just reading that article should make you puke
Saying no one is more gifted or talented when it comes math?
They reject the idea of natural gifts and talents?

WHO are these loonies?

I read this paragraph and don't understand it. Even worse - I have a math degree from The University of Texas as Austin.

That is their goal. Write a bunch of gibberish that can be interpreted in such a way that Libs can make "mathematically challenged" chirruns not look as challenged. This eases the stress on the teachers unions because they won't need to feel the stress of being held accountable for doing their jobs. The same strategy was applied to the ACA, which was written in Lib gibberish (Libberish). Obviously, another favorite is "re-imagining" definitions, so that, for example, an ex-con becomes a "justice involved" individual, or a border crisis becomes a "border challenge". Throw in the "if you don't pass this liberal give away law, the children will be hurt and there will be no crossing guards near schools" tactic, and you are off and running toward socialism/equity/communism.

Two plus two does not always have to equal four. Why should five or three be left out? It is just a matter of opinion after all. The idea that there can only be one correct answer is so unfair

But what math term could even be "re-imagining" ? You're in calculus. It's time to integrate but now it's called ... ? I really took it as make the word problems about race, gender, oppression, etc. Instead of "Tommy has 4 apples and ate 2. How many does he have left?" make it "Jack makes $100 for work but Jill only makes $80. How much less does Jill make for being a woman?"

This thread should not say "looniness." It should say, "Threats to our country."

Claiming to be ‘not racist’ is not enough, America

"Being offended by the concept of antiracism to combat the disease of racism is like being offended by radiation and chemo to eradicate cancer. Inactive response to a progressive disease spreading is negligence and complicity. It’s tantamount to knowingly sitting outside of a bedroom where a sexual assault is occurring, not intervening, and thinking as long as you aren’t doing it, you’re good."

This is what OU and Seattle voted for.

I like how the writer ignored who does the most assaults and robberies. Slightly relevant don’t you think?

^Copied from the link above:

"unless you have outcomes proportionate to the demographics of the population, you’re racist"

Unbelievable! I'm all for "equal opportunity" - but "equal outcomes?" They've lost their minds.

Disney Employee Training Claims U.S. Was Founded on ‘Systemic Racism,’ Includes ‘White Privilege Checklist’

"Participants are encouraged to fill out a “white privilege checklist” which includes markers like “I am white,” I am heterosexual,” “I am a man,” “I still identify as the gender I was born in,” “I have never been raped,” “I don’t rely on public transportation,” and “I have never been called a terrorist.”

Participants are then told to shift from “white dominant culture” to “something different.”

“Competition,” “individualism,” “timeliness,” and “comprehensiveness” are “white dominant” values that “perpetuate white supremacy culture,” the training says."

Ol' Walt is rolling over in his grave...

Unbelievable! Don’t know what to say except Tiger, et al, are non competitive? How can one defend that?

I've been to Disney World 11 times with the last visit about 6 or 7 years ago. That trip I realized something had changed. Cast members on their cell phones, had one complain to me about their job, spent over an hour disputing food charges that were wrong, when I got on the bus at the airport the old geezer greeting us was an *******, etc. It was a daily problem which none of these had ever happened before. We ended up leaving a day early because it was too much to deal with to be so crowded and thats when I realized they are now nothing more than your average theme park living off their past reputation.

By the time I was all in, that trip cost me roughly $5,000. Thats too much money to have to fight daily to fix problems. I said I would never go back but was considering one last time this summer, but now its clear the customer is not the focus anymore. I think I'll try Dollywood which will be less than half the expense and probably get treated better.

The whole world. I recently actually had someone go to HR to report me because I offended him by politely asking him why someone reporting to him was allowed to break company policy.

The fact that someone is breaking policy, procedure, the law is irrelevant, the only thing that matters is someone was offended.

I remember a conversation with family just a few years ago about how we felt when we received good service, heck even a smile (which is interesting now with masks). Everyone agreed it is so rare we cherish those establishments where they are friendly and professional, which also inspires us to willfully tip appreciatively. Good service is certainly more rare now and consequently more appreciated.
