Playoff Game 1 Prediction Thread: Texas vs Clemson...Beginning of a 4 Game Season

Also, after Texas wins this game, they should also have the highest win probability in the 2nd round (New Year's Day) games as well. Some of the 2nd round matchups look to be really tough, except for the Arizona State bracket. That is why Texas being the #5 seed is the best thing that could have happened to them. Imagine being the #1 or #2 seed and having to play Notre Dame or Ohio State in the New Years Day games.

I would have rather been the 6 seed, and played Boise second round. But happy to avoid Georgia and Oregon.
 
The Horns are in a good position to run the table. Catch the Ducks prior to the final game and Georgia working with a back up qb.
 
While I feel better about this game than I did for the Georgia game, I'm still not certain which team we'll see. I hope I'm wrong but I'm thinking this will be another close game. We'll certainly have the home field advantage.

The worst part is that we're traveling on Saturday. We'll be able to watch the first half in the airport. I don't know that Southwest carries TNT as one of their live TV stations onboard. I'm hoping for a blowout in the first half so I don't have to worry about the score while we're flying.

I have lived through the good and bad ever since the knothole section days in the 50's, to include the 1-9 season before Royal came in.

I don't have good feelings about this game for the following reasons.

Looks good getting off the bus.... advantage Texas
Anger factor over spread and media .......advantage Clemson
Street fight in the trenches, line play.......advantage Clemson
Field goal kicker.................................advantage Clemson
Run game............................................advantage Clemson
Secondary play....................................advantage Texas
Quarterback play....................................push
Receivers getting open.......................Clemson
Sideline gameday coaching..................advantage Clemson
Penalties. False starts, offsides, holding.... advantage Clemson

Hope I am wrong. Love my Horns and Sark. But I think Texas
might be a few years out from being a national champ contender. And a big part of it is heart and between the ears. When a team cannot even line up onsides, that says something. Texas will always get the hate. Time to give a little. soft?

Thanks for the dose of reality. I tend to agree. I long for the stellar games of old...like when Ewers first started. Those days are gone with him. No RPOs, no sweeps, no flea-flickers, nada. Except for a sometime "punch 'em in the gut" running game, Texas' offense is boring. I wish the best for them, but I sure hope Texas gets a new offensive line and an offensive coordinator next season where Arch can use his legs. Texas 17-14.

Hate to break it to ya but Sark is really our Offensive Coordinator..lol Gonna have to lay hands on Sark and hope. I think Arch will be fine. I think Arch is the QB Coach has wanted since he arrived on the Forty. I think the next 2 years could be very special for us on the Forty.:e-hookem:

I share many of the same concerns. Especially a 50/50 FG Kicker - such a HUGE liability in the playoffs. I think the game will be much closer than many think.

Hope I'm wrong and the Horns play a complete game while blowing them out.

No doubt about it this will be a tough game. Clemson is basically aggy with better passing on paper.

Obviously games aren't played on paper, but if Texas gift wraps them a couple of free TD's like they have multiple times this season it's by by NC title hopes.

It will come down to turnovers and penalties, and I don't think B10 officials will be on our side.

Notre Dame?

ND is the only team I am not sure about but the other three definitely made all three formats.
