Player Management 2017-18

I think he was talking about Joyner. Joyner may have gotten into some trouble from what I'm hearing. They gave her number to Littleton already.

Ugg... not good news. I never thought Raoul's post was about Rellah. Rather, it was about a current player. If Joyner continues to play for the U19 team, then I'm not sure how serious the "trouble" could be. I'm not discounting your insight but as far as we know, she is still playing on the U19 team.

It's an understatement to say how much we need Joyner on the team. If true, I hope this situation will get worked out and valuable lessons will be learned. I'm sure the coaches are taking this situation seriously and dealing with it privately and internally. As fans, we sometimes forget that our favorite players are young and don't always make the best decisions.

I thought the same thing also until I saw her number on Littleton. Then I said it must have some truth to it
They didn't give her number to Destiny. When Destiny was on her visit they let her wear the number when she was taking pictures. Joyner will still be wearing #24.

Considering Destiny also wore 24 in HS, that makes sense and numbers aren't official until the roster is set/posted.

You may be right but I just spoke with an AAU coach and she said that she is suspended for a year. Wouldn't tell me what for. This will suck. She also told me that Texas is trying to keep it quiet. We won't know until August or so.

I doubt that she would be suspended for a year. But if it were because of grades I could see that. And why would Texas want to keep it quiet? No offense, but you and whoever you're supposedly talking to don't know what you're talking about. I hope this isn't the same person that told you that Chasity wasn't going to go to Texas because her dad was mad at the coaching staff.

It may be just coincidence but Joyner was the only player missing at the WBB Advanced Camp I attended. The people I talked to did not know why she was not in attendance.
She also posted this on her Twitter yesterday. Of course a lot of things can be read into her message? Things have been going just too good for something to go wrong now!

I can't imagine a worse thread to come home to...sigh. Man I hope none of this is true.

I certainly have no information as to whether this news on Joyner is true or not; anything is possible, I guess.

As for HornsLewis, the poster who came to post this information:

- had not posted on our forum since January 31, 2017; today, starts asking about Joyner and her jersey number, only later to come back and add that he is being told she is suspended for one year

- at the same time, a poster named skilledup is spreading the news on the Baylor forum that he "read" the news here on this forum; skilledup also posting that he will put out feelers to see what is going on with Joyner

- skilledup was also the poster who was posting on the Baylor forum that Rellah was not going to be attending Texas but would instead be playing overseas or going to JUCO for a year or two; later, instead of owning that he was spreading rumors, simply stated that he posted what he was told by his trusted sources

- HornsLewis had told us that Chasity Patterson was favoring OU and A&M over Texas prior to her committing to Texas last June

I could be wrong, but HornsLewis = skilledup

I've noticed Joyner's tweets lately (after making the USA team) were kind of suspect about something. I don't know why, but I assumed she either had an injury or trouble with her boyfriend. Never expected to hear/read something like what has transpired today.

I'm going to assume this is all a nasty rumor, unless we get confirmation of something.

Moooooo, thanks for your detective work. Whatever the truth is in this situation, it appears that HornsLewis/skilledup (singular or plural?) specializes in spreading gossip, since apparently that's what they mainly come on this board for. And apparently much of the time it is wrong. If "Texas is trying to keep this quiet," why would Texas immediately give Joyner's number to Destiny, which is widely seen? Puzzling. Have you all heard of a player being suspended "for a year?" Of course indefinite suspensions are not uncommon. Oh well.... what will be will be, but I don't care for gossipy type posts. If you have something, please state the specifics and the source. Otherwise, it feels a little too much like the person is grooving on spreading bad news, especially someone who rarely posts. That does not include people like Moooooo, who does careful research and gives the appropriate qualifiers.

Lol.....that's not me at all on Baylor board. I happen to know the Patterson family. Glad she's here but there is a reason she is and let's just enjoy her without going into it just to prove that I'm right. You can believe what you want though, but when I was at the camp Holmes was the only one not there. This is why I started asking questions. I really hope I'm wrong and that I was told wrong.

Well Sug has commented that she is headed out for the USAWBU19 team practices in Colorado Springs. All the team members are supposed to report today. We should hear what the status on Joyner Holmes is depending on whether she reports or not? She has definitely not been with the team for the summer workouts thus far which to me is a huge mystery? Hope this all works out for the best!

Yep. This makes me nervous.

Injuries are unfortunate. Prior to Alecia getting hurt, I thought she would be a big contributor as a freshman, and we were going to need her as we didn't have much depth at PG. Without her being 100% healthy to start the season, we just lacked another facilitator on offense. Although she gained a lot of her confidence back toward the end of the season, it was obviously a struggle for her (moreso mentally than physically).

Hoping she has a healthy and successful sophomore season. Won't be surprised if she wins a starting spot in the lineup.

Nice piece. Confidence is right up there with basketball skills as a must for a great team. I think confidence is half the reason UConn has the record they do. I wish the same surge in confidence for LaShann that Sug has had. As some of us have talked about before, it has seemed like similar issues for her, thinking too much, getting down on herself, worrying too much about pleasing everyone. I could be wrong in my psychoanalyzing, but that's how it seemed to me. I can't wait to see Sug's game this year.
