Over 5 hours

The biggest quagmire in interstate history is going north .....Waco to the 35 split. It's a joke. I've seriously seen two fatality accidents on that piece of **** the last two years.

Yeah, TP, it might be worse than I35 through Austin.

Here is our five hour plus trip: Three years ago, we were headed back to Austin and ran into stopped traffic before the split. We got off in Itasca and took clogged back roads into Waco. At a convenience store near the source of the backup, we learned that an 18-wheeler had collided with another truck. A fire truck responding to the accident had fallen over onto the wreckage!

Visionary plans like the Trans-Texas Corridor get overturned by small but loud populist revolts. Texas only gets a fraction back from every highway dollar we send to Washington. Our population doubles every couple/few decades and concentrates into the triangle between the Metroplex, San Antonio, and Houston.

I would suggest that we're going to get something just like the Trans-Texas Corridor one way or the other. It's just a matter of whether we raise taxes on everyone or charge those who actually use the infrastructure. Maybe a combination of both.
