OU's Paris: No title, no scholarship money

Obviously, any player has room for improvement. I think that CP would have been well served to drop a few pounds and work on her mid-range game. She would certainly be a better player if she could play at the high post and be a threat to score from that area as well as being able to drive to the basket. Ashley Paris can do all of those things and many have commented that Ashley is now a better player than CP.

Things are not going to be nearly as easy in the WNBA when she is going up against mobile post players who have the ability to step away from the basket. There was a reason that Fowles made the Olympic team and CP did not. Griner will make the Olympic team before CP.

I would say that if they planted Ashely under the basket she would have better numbers. Ashley could play Courtney's position A LOT better than Courtney could play Ashley's. Ashely is much more versatile. It should be interesting to see of Courtney is the top pick in the draft. Many are predicting that McCoughtry from Louisville and Montgomery from UCONN may be the top picks in the draft. It would be difficult to consider Courtney one of the all time greats if she is not taken as the number 1 pick.

As for Knight, he was just the first TV personality who actually had the nerve to say it in those exact words, but it had been mentioned on other telecasts that many WNBA scouts were predicting that Ashley would be drafted before Courtney. I guess time will tell.

Oh, and I would be remiss if I failed to say, since I know that there are are some Dang Dirty Sooners trolling our board...

CP is no doubt the go-to player for OU and one of the all-time greats in the college game. but Ashley has improved so much over her 4 years. i have really enjoyed watching her play this season. her numbers are still below Courtney's, but they would probably be better if she wasn't playing on the same team as her sister.

i'm also interested to see how the draft goes, and how CP and Ashley will fair in the WNBA. like TXtoCO said, Ashley is much more versatile, and i think her game might translate better in the WNBA.

Well said, tott. Courtney has been a great college player. At her current skill level I don't see it translating well to the WNBA. I suspect that whichever team drafts her will force her to get in better shape.

Oh, DDS, don't get your knickers in a twist. Courtney is a great college player, there is no debating that. We wish her the best in the WNBA and will be thrilled to see her move on, even if she will have $64K less in the bank once she leaves.

Check back in a few months and let's discuss the WNBA draft.

Had a I known it was this easy to upset an OU fan I would have said these things sooner. Explain to my why Paris got so little playing time when she was on the national team. Look at her productivity when she was playing on that team...that is a preview of what her WNBA stats will be.

I would love to know what percentage of CP's rebounds were her own point blank missed shots. I cannot speculate on how she will do in the WNBA....could go either way, but I bet she better drop a pound or two if she wants to compete at that level.

I don't care if Courtney Paris has the best hands EVAH (not)---I can't wait to see them lose and then I can't wait for her to graduate.

Obviously I am yanking Dirty Sooner's chain a bit...the penalty for posting positive OU comments on Hornfans. CP has obviously been a tremendous college player. However, I would rate her as the third best post player in the nation, behind Appel at Stanford, who BTW, torched OU in the NCAAs last year, and Tina Charles, who IMO clearly outperformed CP in their game this year.

I doubt that many of CP's records will ever be broken. I suspect that Griner could break quite a few of them but I don't see Mulkey leaving Griner in the game to pad the stat sheet like Coale has done with CP. There were many games where CP was left in the game longer than a coach would usually leave a player in, and IMO just so that they could keep the streak alive. I think the streak almost became bigger than the team and turned out to be a bad thing in the long run.

I am guessing that if you moved AP to the 5 and CP to the 4 that AP's numbers would go up a bit but that CP's numbers would drop considerably. Just think how much better OU would be if CP had some of AP's skills and could drop a 15 footer with consistency. They could run a little motion offense that would be nearly impossible to stop. Coale has no choice but to put CP right under the basket due to her offensive limitations from other positions. She can put AP where she wants and still get productivity.

BUT, I sure will be happy to see both sisters move on to the WNBA. They have been incredible performers for OU.

I truly hope that OU gets to meet up with UCONN again. I can only imagine how motivated UCONN will be after reading CP's comments. That would be the only way that I could EVER yell for UCONN.

OU playing Ashley at the 5 and Courtney at the 4 wouldn't make much sense. Ashley definitely could be a primary post scorer if she were on a different team, but she doesn't have the unstoppable size advantage to take over the center spot from her sister.

I am pretty impressed with her improvements though. Because of her rebounding totals and because CP is her sister I tend to think of her as being a really big player for a forward, but she really isn't. In fact during our game last Sunday she didn't seem much bigger than Kat Nash.

At the end of the day most Texas fans are mad the twins didn't pick Texas, ill say if here Courtney might have been small, know one can say she's out of shap when they don't know her. But when she goes pro, her team will make her get smaller, then every one will say if she would have did that in college, so some one will always have somthing to say.
