Walk.

Then the TCU runner got caught in a run down. Sloppy base running by the Frogs there.

Another out, now a K.

That's it for TCU this inning.

On to the bottom of the 6th, it's still 3-0 Frogs.

Now Klecker puts them down; pop out. Nothing for ISU in the 6th.

On to the 7th.

3-0 TCU.

Yep, Klecker's having himself a day, all right.

We rocked this dude hard right out of the gate, but he's normally a good pitcher.

TCU's Silva flies out to deep CF. 1 away in the 7th.

Now a ground out to 2nd base.

Good play by the ISU SS. On to the 7th inning stretch (brought to baseball by Manhattan College).

still 3-0 Frogs.

Klecker puts them down again 1-2-3 in the 7th.

He's having a career day at just the right time.

one out.

K, and gunned down the TCU runner at 2nd.

Nothing for the Frogs in the 8th.

The Frogs looked very solid. Klecker had a career day. It will be tough for ISU to rally to 2 wins in a row on the road in front of a big crowd. But strange things do happen in college baseball playoffs, from time-to-time...

The ISU pitcher going tomorrow has a sub-150 ERA since mid-April or so. They’re built on pitching and defense.

It’ll be a tough ask to win 2. TCU is pretty tough at this juncture.

The Sycamores still have Fenlong and Miller on the mound. Both have good ERAs (3.33 and 2.77) and very good WHIPs (1.08 and 1.05).

As for the other side of the equation (offense), I didn't realize how weak ISU's lineup was. They have zero (0, none, nada, no) starting batters who hit over 0.300.

ISU is definitely a pitching and defense team. That usually beats a team with hitting, but crappy pitching and D. Of course, it's best to have both a good D and a good O. You know, balance--just like the mainstream big sport media pundits are now finally recognizing that we have at UT.

TCU can really bat. 0.301 team batting avg, 87 homeruns on the year, and team 0.894 OPS.

They'll likely cobble together a decent-enough pitching day on the mound tomorrow (and Sunday if needed), using guys like Stoutenborough, Abelt, Feser, Hoover, Rodriguez, and Savage (again).

Compare with us--0.295 team batting avg. 89 homeruns on the year, and 0.889 team OPS. That's pretty comparable, and they like to rave about how good the TCU offense is. Basically, it's about the same as ours.

The difference is we have 2 shutdown starting pitchers.

Maybe Joel Osteen will build a small university and buy himself a good college baseball team.

The Ozark region of our country certainly has it's fair share of colorful characters.
