OTHER GAMES

Vandy driving around the A&M 30 looking like they might take the lead, then has a deflected ball picked off at the Aggie 5, run out to the Aggie 40, and then the Vandy player who made the tackle committed a stupid late frustration hit to tack on 15 more yards.

Defense carrying the day, Mond is unsurprisingly mediocre. As I type that he throw what should have been a pick right back to the Commodores but the defender can't hold on.

A&M fumbles the handoff on 4th and 1 at the Vandy 35. Bounces forward, and they recover, but they are still short of the line. Vandy's ball down 5 late in the 4th .... Deep ball incomplete ... Dump off pass tackled immediately ... Sacked on 3rd down. Punting back to A&M with under 4 min to go.

The parts of this game I have seen have been yucky.

S Car down seven with 4:41 to go. Fourth and long. Decide to try field goal to make it a four point game. Good. 3:16 left in game.

Mond usually has his above average games against below average teams. And his below average games against above average teams. Someone needs to tell him Vanderbilt threatened not to play football because it was inconvenient.

Ags are churning clock. Vanderbilt head coach gets a 15 yard penalty on 2nd and 8 for coming too far onto the field and screaming at the refs about not giving him a timeout fast enough. Wow.

Tennessee punting back to South Carolina, up 31-27. Minute and a half left and the Gamecocks have no TOs left.

I'm impressed with this crowd noise given the stadium is only like 12% full.

What network is A*M on?

It was SEC Alternate Network. It's weird, it doesn't even shows any programming on the channel guide. If I click on it I get this submenu with a bunch of different options.

Oh wow, one of the SC guys ran over near the bouncing punt and had it go off his leg. What a blunder. Vols will kneel it out. Why are they calling timeout? Just trying to rub it in? I don't get it.

That was a bu!! Shat call. He was trying to get the refs attention for a timeout. ags lucked out there. Alabama, Florida and Msu will be getting those calls in next three games. Sec officials are horrible.

Oct. 10 -- Miami v. Clemson

As much as we joke about Manny __iaz and his historical lack of __efense, this headliner game* could go a long way towards setting up the playoff picture. Manny has himself a very good team, an exceptional QB, an actual __efense (yes, it's true), and a lot of momentum. With QB King and that Miami O, the Miami __efense should get a lot more rest than most defenses facing Clemson. Clemson is Clemson, they have the golden boy at QB, and they get the Canes in Death Valley.

* Texas v OU is set for 11 a.m. on Oct. 10. Miami v Clemson is TBD--I'd expect the television execs to make it a night game, or a least the late afternoon game.

'Some viewers in the State of Texas will get Texas A&M v. Arkansas on the SEC Plus Plus Network, while others will see Stephen F. Austin v. Tarleton State.'

Oh yeah....the SEC++. I think only dish carries that on their brown package for $5 less
I think they also have a few aggy games on the Alternative Sec Secondary Network

10/3

Another pretty good slate of games this week.

#25 Memphis v. SMU -- I'm very interested in this one. I think that, without Norvell, Memphis won't be the same. Shane is Shane and should put up some big numbers. Look for an entertaining, and likely close, shootout on the Hilltop today. Go Shane!

Baylor v. West Virginia -- Probably Baylor, but I lack much conviction on this one. Look for a typical Big 12 shootout.

Texas Tech v. Kansas State -- This one could be interesting. Bowman is for real and should put up big numbers. Can KSU control the ball and clock and keep Bowman off the field in Manhattan, KS?

#3 Florida v. South Carolina -- Gators have too much. Trask puts up some big numbers today.

#17 Okla State v. Kansas -- The Mullet is struggling with an uncharacteristically bad play at QB. Mullet's defense is tougher than Canada's top hockey goalie. I'd be surprised if the Pokes fall to KU.

#12 North Carolina v. Boston College -- Mack's trademark game day brilliance and in-game coaching adjustments overcomes BC's massive talent advantage. [JUST KIDDING]
UNC has the horses. BC just has nags and mules.

aTm v. #2 Alabama -- watch for #2 Alabama to take a giant #2 on the aggies in Tuscaloosa. Jimbo starts to wonder why he ever took this job.

Arkansas v. #16 Miss. State -- the Pirate of the Tombigbee gets the pigs at home. Look for the scoreboard to light up as the Bulldogs rip the hogs.

OU v. ISU -- Sooners look to bounce back after a tough loss. This year's ISU team doesn't look like the solid teams in recent years. Rattler puts up some numbers.

UVA v. Clemson -- Please. This isn't the surprising good UVA team from last year.

LSU v. Vanderbilt -- LSU is much weaker than last year, or other recent years. Either: (i) Vandy is better than usual, or (ii) aTm sucks, or (iii) both (i) and (ii)... LSU triumphs, largely based on brute strength up front.

#7 Auburn v. #4 Georgia -- While I don't think GA deserves a #4 ranking, I'm not sure if Auburn has the O firepower to keep up. Then again, with their tough D, maybe AU can pull it off in a relatively low scoring game. This is probably the headliner matchup of the day and should be interesting at least.

Ole Miss v. Kentucky -- Ole Miss has looked pretty solid thus far. I'd take the Rebs in a close one at KY.

Navy v. Air Force -- Navy's O is nowhere near the same without Perry, but their option can still pose problems. Navy doesn't look too convincing in the early season, barely squeaking out a win against Tulane and getting taken to shaft alley with no lube oil against BYU (55-3 Cougars). This is Air Force's first game, so who knows what they have this year?

NC State v. Pitt -- beats me. who cares.

Pro slate just got twisted...Cam Newton tests positive. That has the potential to create a second postponement this week. Patriots plane is being held until later in the day...

Will also impact a lot of Vegas contests if people had picks in already...once in, no changes. And for those in survivor pools, if the game doesn't get played, it is a loss and you are out of the contest...

Florida is starting to pull away from the Gamecocks. 24-14. UF first down deep in SC territory. Trask taking over.

Now first and goal.

Juggling catch. TD Florida.

31-14 UF.

Trask = legit Heisman contender.

Army vs Abilene Christian should be sort of like when the actual Army took on Grenada. 7-0 early on. Army QB hurt.
