But I saw or read Rhule's presser after the game he said they were just concerned about his neck and a spinal injury--yeah, right!! that dude didn't know who or where he was...

Charlie comes from a football family. Probably his father saw a lot of concussions and has friends who are living with the result. After watching the back of his head hit the ground last night and how it seemed like Charlie was unconscious for some time. At the very least I doubt he knew very much about what happened. There is no way anyone should accept the responsibility for letting him on the football field again.
 
Well, Baylor does have a long track record of putting the best interests and safety of their students ahead of results in sporting events.

This sorry sack of #$%@ Rhule needs to take whatever NFL job he can get (even Cleveland) and get the f#$% out of college ball for good.

As I posted before, it spoke volumes to me that Mike Defee stopped the game and escorted Charlie to the sideline and told Rhule he needed to be checked.
 
Yep.

Note to Rhule: the NFL is calling, answer that call.

At least those are grown adult men in the NFL, with some more years, making millions $$$ per year, and well-apprised of the risks they are taking.

If Rhule leaves, Baylor needs to hire a well-respected, highly ethical coach to (at least partially) clean up that cesspool on the Brazos.

The problem, however, is that Bailor has NOBODY that has a clue about what ethics are and what ethical would look like...
 
Brewer Injury Update from Sporting News written by DAN BERNSTEIN, January 2, 2020.


"Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer, who has suffered multiple concussions this season, left Wednesday's Sugar Bowl game against Georgia after taking another hit to the head.

"In the fourth quarter, Brewer scrambled from the pocket and ran out of bounds before being popped by defensive lineman Travon Walker late. His head appeared to bounce off the turf as he went down. He stayed on the turf for some time, and was eventually carted off the field.

"According to multiple reports postgame, Baylor coach Matt Rhule said Brewer's neck was the issue, that he passed all tests on it from the Bears' medical staff and that he didn't exhibit any issues with the head. That said, he is still being monitored.

"Brewer, a junior, entered the Sugar Bowl having experienced concussion-like symptoms that limited his practice time in December. He was knocked out of the Big 12 championship game against Oklahoma on Dec. 7.

"Brewer threw for a touchdown and ran for another on Wednesday before his injury. He amassed 32 touchdowns this season to help Baylor achieve its best season since 2014."

I was not originally all that excited about this years' bowl slate outside the final 4, but it turns out that there have been a several very entertaining games

Yes indeed!

Minnesota v. Auburn, and Wisconsin v. Oregon were excellent entertaining games.

My favorite of all: Texas v. Utah. :bevo::cow::hookem2::headbang:
 
So let's apply a (very simple) mathematical model, using a very limited subset of data and the transitive property, to gauge the quality of conferences ... :smh: We may also have to suspend the concept of non-sequitur for this one...

(Warning: students, don't submit this to your Math profs... But, you might confuse the heck out of some A&M fans.)

Minnesota beat Auburn, so the Big 10 is better than the SEC.
Oregon beat Wisconsin, so the PAC is better than the Big 10.
Texas beat Utah, so the Big 12 is better than the PAC.

Conference rankings:

1. Big 12
2. PAC
3. Big 10
4. SEC

Both of these two teams were creative with their TEs. I think our team has some untapped talent at this position. Wonder if Yurcich watched this game too?

 
Texas State had No TEs even tho 7 are on roster.
Covid 19 contact tracing sidelined them all.

The Spavital brothers did a great job of disguising their defense and throwing looks at Shane he hadn't seen and didn't expect. His OL was lost many times.

I watched the whole game and was most impressed by the Spavital brothers schemes and adjustments.

Did not catch the game. Did Shane remind you at all of Colt? How were his deep throws?
 
in Sonny's system, he is taking off less. he threw a lot of BBs, but a few with touch. His receivers seemed to have trouble creating separation, but Spavital's scheme was a major part of that problem.

I still think he has a stronger arm. If Lamar was still alive, the Chiefs would sign him

Yes; and most of the times he wanted to go deep there was a LB in his face.

Keep in mind that SMU was giving 22.5 points...and TxState got depleted in depth as the game wore on due to injury and also a targeting ejection.

I certainly wish SMU well, but the football world learned very little about EITHER program in that game. TxState actually had a chance to have won outright, not just against the spread...
 
Speaking of the lines...I guess people were happy if they had Navy and 53 points.

Some of these Week 1 games in college make me wonder JUST how ugly NFL games are going to be with no pre-season games.
